The original TRENCHCOAT MAN was composed by Uwe Gronau, lyrics are by Michael H. Höing. The version released by BMG/Ariola, this one here, has additional authors on the composing side: Hubert Kemmler and Mats Björklund, lyrics by Michael H. Höing. SECRET LAND, sung by Sandra, was adapted to a female artist and had Michael Cretu as additional composer and Klaus Hirschburger and Susanne Müller-Pi on the lyric´s side.

I really love this sentimental, but cool and sad electro pop tune. And also the more commercial and less mystical adaption by SANDRA (cretu). I WISH FABRIQUE had much more success in the European charts back then. Music (not ) only for dreamers and utopists... !

This original, produced by Hubert Kah, not by M.Cretu is a really rare one. It's hard to get it asa 7" or 12"cheap, because it failed with its text & didn't get any support by the music industry. Cretu who's a friend of Hubert changed the story & got success with Sandra's voice. After 20 Years I got it last Sunday on a fleamarket & I have to say "Trenchcoat Man" is a little softer & I like it a little bit more than Sandra's fantastic version. Great job, Hubert!

Ich bin so geschockt: "Secret land" war meine erste Sandra-Single & der Anfang meines Fandaseins. Nach ueber 20 Jahren zu merken, dass es sich um eine Coverversion handelt... Es haut mich um; meine Jugend basiert auf einer Luege!

Ich habe (als Mitteldeutscher geschichtsbedingt leider erst "etwas nach der Veröffentlichung" möglich) 1992 in Augsburg diese Maxi erstanden - weil ich Fan von Hubert Kemmler war und bin. Zu der legendären Flucht der damaligen Frau C. aus dem ORB-Studio bei der DanceParty mit Thomas Heede möchte ich mich nicht äußern; er hatte wohl die Tatsachen etwas "unvorsichtig" angesprochen - denke ich... Ungeachtet dessen ist dieses Lied genial und zeitlos!

Alex, nimm mal bitte das mit Sandra aus dem Titel! Der Begleittext ist ja okay. Aber im Originalsong gehört die weibliche Stimme NICHT Sandra, sondern Amy Goff.
