I use a variegated thread for the back ground sewing as it sinks into the fabric. Also I use a clear soluble stabiliser sometimes instead of the netting.

I bought excess stiff stuff for making wonky houses and it is not going to be lying around very long, I really want to try this. Thank you so much, love the sparkle fabric 🌸

I love your work Kathleen. Could you tell me if I could organza on the top of the work, rather than the net? Thank you so much, Liz.

Hi, I love this but I can’t work out what the fabric at the bottom is? I shall every old scrap and have glued them onto a sheet but I’d love to have a go at this! Please can you tell me what it is at the bottom? Many thanks

I can't figure out exactly what you are using for the base. I've checked your website and can't find it there. It must have a different name in the US? How do you spell it? That would be helpful. Thank you!

I couldn't make out the name of the product you used as a base so I turned on the closed captioning. It says "helmet violin". I'm sure that's not right. What is the stiff 'fabric' you use?

I use Pelmet Vilene which is known in England as S80 Heavy Firm sew in interfacing, available on Amazon. Hope this helps Kathy x

Would this be washable?
@kathleenlaurelsagetextiles4432

yes it would be washable depending on what you made from it. Boxes and needle cases are probably not washable. Also it will depend on what fabrics you use in the layering up under the net. hope that helps kathy x

The captions kept calling it "helmet violins", lol. I have no idea what material that is underneath. Do you suppose you can put embroidery thread scraps in there? ❤

Susan you can put anything you like in there as long as you do enough stitching so get experimenting and see what happens x
