British Army Soldiers || Guards vs Paras | 3 Mile Boot Run | HDPRCC
Infantry courses were focused on core infantry skills, but the various demands on infantry battalions meant that soldiers were not necessarily well practiced in these at all times. Consequently, battalions sought to address this gap by conducting their own in house refresher training. Over time, however, it became evident that the level of performance on both courses was unpredictable and varied between the battalions.
In 1996 this resulted in the Household Division and Parachute Regiment pooling resources to create the first centralised team to deliver this training, known as Household Division & Parachute Regiment Centralised Courses, known as (HDPRCC).
All opinion presented on my channel is personal opinion and I am not communicating on behalf of the Army in an official capacity.
Big thanks to all the permanent staff @ HDPRCC💂

Don't be fooled by the "3mile" boot run - It's intense warm-up before run, 1.5 miles to the hills, then about 15x hill reps with the 'circuit' (burpees, press ups, squats, planks, etc.) in between and then 1.5 miles back to Camp - all this at best effort, and you can see the speed of the guys (which is faster in real life than on camera). Massive RESPECT to the LADS who I am honoured to call my brothers! #Fabziy

I think that one of the reason that British soldiers are so good is due to the strong emphasis placed on good old fashioned running and marching! Seems obvious to me; their job is to move great distances on foot with heavy loads and then fight, which consists of sprint/stop/repeat. I'm amazed that there are so many militaries which don't place emphasis on running. Perhaps it's because bringing recruits up to a high level of running fitness causes a lot of injuries + requires a more strict medical exam = fewer soldiers. Two great examples I can think of (both from the US military) are (1) when David Goggins went for his first ultra he describes the only cardio he did for a long time leading up to it was 20 mins of elliptical on a Sunday, this is while serving as a Navy SEAL! Not saying seals aren't highly competent but they seem to spend a lot of time pumping iron rather than developing fitness which is actually functional. (2) In Steve Heanie's book (he was in the pathfinders) he mentions some American soldiers who come along to join in on the endurance/mountains section and end up blowing out their arses and trailing behind everybody. Interesting stuff.

Interesting observations but these boys are infantry soldiers I'm no way being disrespectful to these lads or their professional abilities but as a former S.f.operative review either the Royal Marines or the Parachute regiment or better still the British special forces like the Royal Navy's S.B.S as former seal you would certainly have come across those boys.

50 years on and these lads look a lot faster than I ever was, though in reality it probably isn't the case. One thing that struck me about the army, was that it had different definitions to civvies. As a civvy, a log was something my dad threw on the fire. In the army, I discovered a log was a telegraph pole painted a nice bright colour. I also discovered that a team of 6 lads could actually run quite a long way carrying one. They could run even further with it if their team came last. Our PTI's had a great sense of humour. It's good to see that the PT sessions are still taxing, it reinforces my sense of pride in the British Army.
