A huge shout out to Van for the generous gift I received in the mail yesterday. I teach a carving class of 20 seniors, and he provided us each with a rough out and picture to go with it, along with a personalized study stick for faces and eyes. Both will be invaluable to our class! It’s carvers like Van who are keeping the hobby alive when many clubs are dying out. I am a newer carver, but watching your videos in the last couple of weeks has really changed my technique and massively improved my carvings! I always struggled with eyes, for example, and there are so many techniques out there,, but yours works the absolute best for me! I've been practicing my ears, thanks to your ears video and I've been toying with heads and bottle stoppers, if you have a chance to shoot a video where you carve the entire head, it would be fantastic! Thank you Van. What I like best about your videos is that you spend the time to really show what you are doing. So many videos today have “small skips” in them and upon further study, some important cuts are skipped. I like that you don’t skip important cuts, so much more informative!! I really love your dad jokes!❤ As good as you are at teaching, I’m still struggling with faces. Being left handed but learning how to carve right-handed from right-handed masters, I don’t seem to have quite enough control of my knife, and I keep chopping off one side of the nose 😅 It’s always the same side too🤷🏼‍♀️ so your mouth breathing tired guy with belated nostrils still has it better than my pitiful attempts, who keep losing half their noses.😝 Thanks so much for all you do for us.
