@@KathleenHammett-hr1gy You are either unfamiliar with the US justice system or you are lying. Plea deals are common, they are more common that cases actually going to trial, the gap between sentences if gound guilt at trial and those handed out in a plea deal can reach decades, a factor of ten or more. You are delusional if you believe that somebody taking plea deal in the US is a serious admission of guilt. What he describes at 5:00 is also common. People take the plea deal because that means they will get out eventually rather than risk going to trial and getting decades. They take plea deals because terrible conditions in prison break them down. Plea deals only help the system speed up the process and the guilty to serve less time. In a better system the difference between a plea deal and a guilty verdict at trial would be less severe and innocent people or those innocent of certain charges would go to trial, like the majority of cases. This is NOT currently the case: 98% of cases are plea bargained. www.npr.org/2023/02/22/1158356619/plea-bargains-criminal-cases-justice#:~:text=In%20any%20given%20year%2C%2098%25%20of%20criminal%20cases,a%20new%20report%20from%20the%20American%20Bar%20Association. This is all completely independent of him him being involved in the January 6 stuff. Now on that note, if you ask me guy´s a fuggin nutcase and certainly deserved some sort of punishment, though I would be very hesitant to support what the prosection asked for because they tend to go overboard in general and in the Jan6 cases there was a strong incentive to make an example of people. The scope of the people charged and the conviction rate is a bit high for my taste. Oh and I refuse to believe the BBC lady is ingorant of this fact regarding plea bargains.

I'm a UK citizen. I don't watch the BBC or any mainstream UK media outlet except on very rare occasions. They very rarely report anything to do with Trump in anywhere near a facsimile to what independent media sources in America are saying. I go through periods of listening to LBC Most of the LBC radio presenters talk about American and Trump related issues from a place 3 or 4 layers removed from reality. To the point where what they say might just as well be made up so little does it resemble what I'm following daily from American sources.
