"Face the Nation" Full Broadcast | July 14, 2024

This week on "Face the Nation," a gunman opened fire at former President Donald Trump's rally on Saturday, sending a bullet grazing the former president's ear and killing a bystander. Scott MacFarlane, who was at the rally, reports on the chaotic scene, while Nicole Sganga reports that bystanders had reported a suspicious person ahead of the shooting.
"Face the Nation" is America's premier Sunday morning public affairs program. The broadcast is one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television, having debuted Nov. 7, 1954, on CBS. The secret service protects a former president. The challenges of campaigns are very different from protecting the daily life of a former president. Therefore, campaigns provide their own additional security. However, campaign funds are being used for legal fees, so perhaps security is being short changed?

We don’t need a doctors report. What matters r the policies and whether or not Biden can do the job as well as the average 80yr old at this time. Presidents don’t need to be good at debates to serve as president, that’s only for the campaign if they choose to debate any candidate they r running against. We chose the person in the primary elections and choose the policies and party during the general election. No dr can give u a guarantee for the next 4yrs. Anyone regardless of age can have a stoke, a heart attack, be assassinated, etc at anytime in life. We also need to understand Biden had to take a much harder test than Trump took. It’s easy to speak in generalizations and push lies, many he’s been pushing for years. It’s much harder for a person around 80yrs to memorize a lot of new material, facts, and statistics w/only a weeks preparation after a lot of traveling, having a cold, and with his stutter. Short term memory declines in everyone age we age. We heard plenty of mistakes, mispronouncing words, misstating the city he’s rallying in, and state the wrong person Trump but it doesn’t bother Trump, make him nervous, make his stuttering worse, etc bc lying is second mature for Trump, Trump isn’t a very intelligent person, and he’s been an entertainer and con artist his entire adult life. He loves pushing lies and disinformation to his supporters who he has referred to as not very smart. He’s good at that, defrauding ppl, and committing crimes but he’s terrible at being president. He doesn’t read anything, has no knowledge of US political history and he’ll push any policies for the highest bidders. Republicans are more bought by the wealthy, corporations, and foreign adversaries than any Dem. We’ve had many presidents who became disabled or passed away while in the presidency (Lincoln, Wilson, FDR, JFK, RFK while campaigning, Reagan). We have a plan for these situations should they arise. They VP, secretaries, and at times in the past, First Ladies have stepped in. The WH ran fine during those times. 20yrs from now, it won’t matter if have Biden or another Dem office win the election, what matters are the policies and party we choose. We r still living in Reagan’s trickle down economy. Reagan killed the M&L classes in America, killed the labor unions, gave US corporations tax incentives to move their jobs out of the U.S., it destroyed our manufacturing jobs and all the ppl who relied on those jobs and a fair income. Voters made the mistake on voting for the more charismatic candidate and did so in a landslide. They failed to educate themselves on what was then far-right policies and how those would impact the country. Don’t make another costly mistake bc u don’t know what skills a good president needs, how the policies will impact Americans, what we do if the president becomes disabled or passes away during his term.

Campaign funds for this guy are being used for legal fees, so perhaps campaign security is short changed. Secret service protects a former president, but campaigns have different challenges and the government cannot fund all of the expenses of a campaign. That would be deferential treatment of one campaign over another. 🗽
