Mining Affected Communities United in Action (MACUA) says it has observed what it calls attempts to dehumanize the miners who remain underground in shaft 11 at Stilfontein Mine. MACUA Executive Director Christopher Rutledge rejects the portrayal by some individuals suggesting that the miners are refusing to leave the shaft. So far, nine bodies have been recovered from the mine.
Advocate Ngoako Ramatlhodi, the former Minister of Mineral Resources, claims that DA Federal Chairperson Helen Zille and FW de Klerk, the last leader of apartheid-era South Africa, had long planned to share power with the ANC in order to undermine it. Ramatlhodi asserts that DA ministers will outshine their ANC counterparts and use this to bolster their campaign in the upcoming election.
