They were both great performances. And i was really impressed that lupone acted a character instead of being lupone. Sorry Doug sills didn’t have much to do. He showed so much promise in the scarlet pimpernel so many years ago.

I saw War Paint on Broadway when it first came out and it was wonderful. I had seen Patti quite a few times to know how wonderful she is and what to expect, but it was my first time seeing Christine! Wow, what an experience!

I can't decide if this is fabulous or terrible. Am I alone? Not Lapone or Ebersole - they're impeccable. But the music/score....ehhhh....bring back Smash and work it.

I understand what you mean. Some of the musical decisions are weird. like around the :59 second mark. the song kinda loses itself a little and it dosnt match the rest of the song for me. Though based off what I've heard and seen that seems to be the case for the whole musical. Apparently they dont even speak to eachother until the very end. Which is crazy considering who they have as the leading ladies. I get they wanted to stay truthful but they shouldve taken the Hamilton approach to this and made more adjustments to let these 2 amazing Actresses actually bounce off of eachother and go at it as characters.

I think the tony renditions of these songs are always a little awkward, since they’re trying to squeeze so much content into such a short time frame (for musical theatre) often the best parts and smoothest key changes are left on the cutting room floor.

This was a terrible show overall. Especially the songs. A man headed to the emergency exit in the theater and yelled to the usher "I'm getting out of here now. Have you seen this s**t?"
