There are certainly magicians that have amazing slight of hand, but Jason has the absolute best chops ive ever seen. Unbelievable control. The fact that he knows exactly how the cards are overlapping as he shuffles. Definitely not sure how he tracks on washes.

Jason - Are you typically using a brand new deck every time you perform? What about when you practice? Reason being - I've been thinking about getting a dozen new decks of cards so I can start learning card magic, but I'm not sure it's necessary because I've got several very old decks lying around. Is the "newness" of cards important for being able to handle them properly, perform false shuffles and what not (etc.) correctly?

Putting aside the tremendous skill involved here, is there like a formula in your head for which positing the card is gonna be? If you've mastered the ability to shuffle/wash the same way every time, and you know the starting positions in the deck, you could (theoretically) compute where each card would be.
