Facebook Link Preview Won’t Load…. How to fix it!

FRUSTRATING. You share your Facebook link and the preview won't show up. Here's a fix which shows you how to bring it back!
So, what do you do when the facebook link preview is not working. It's a simple process using the Facebook Debugger tool, which you can find here:

What to do if the facebook debugger is not working? Maybe try uploading an image and including the link within your caption or comments. Either way, this fix works most of the time but somethings you may have to improvise.

how about internal FB links(images), how does one scrape those since they're not scrapable in the debugger? Link previews do not work in Meta Business Suite

Hey! When I use the debugger tool, a warning pops up that says "Facebook URLs cannot be crawled." What could be the issue?

It looks like you've added a URL from the Facebook site, which the tool doesn't crawl. But if you are sharing a URL from outside of Facebook then I'm actually not sure what's happening there. Would that be the issue?

Hi there! I am having issues with my ads Preview Link for Desktop, Mobile, and IOS. Ads don’t appear in my feed, and when I get the notification to preview the ad on my iphone I am unable to open the notification. The only option that works is for Right Column. I was wondering if you have a video for this issue or if you have any tricks to get the preview to appear in my feed? Thanks!

Unfortunately it's not an issue I have experience with. I'm not really sure where to start - however, is it just your iphone this happens with? Or have you tested another phone? At least you can narrow it down to whether or not it's a phone issue or Facebook issue. That's about all I have unfortunately.

Hi Shamaila, some ideas: If you had the 'www' in the URL you tried, try it without. You can also add in a different URL that redirects. Try searching for a URL shortener maybe? Any kind of alternative URL which takes people to the same place can be tried. Failing that, you can share an image with a link added to the post text itself. Not the same type of post but it can work. This tool doesn't work 100% of the time, sometimes if you try it again later (which isn't always suitable) - it can fix itself.

Thank you very much for this video! I am having an issue that I'm wondering if you know what is going on? When I copy/paste a KZbin URL to share on my Facebook page, it doesn't show any preview, just the URL text. The odd thing is, when I paste a URL into my personal Facebook it links right to the video I am sharing, but not on my artist Facebook page. It is really strange and haven't been able to figure it out... would appreciate any help or support!:) Thanks again Wade (sorry for the long message!)

I've had that issue too and it's a massive pain. I have no "cure" for it, but I have tried switching browsers, trying my phone or adding/removing any www. (if that works) and managed to get through in the past - but not every time. Facebook definitely has some technical issues with this stuff time to time.

Thank you for watching! Yeah, it works a lot of the time but not 100%, sometimes I think Facebook just has issues. I quite often get big spikes of traffic to this video and the blog post on my site so I would guess it's an issue that happens regularly for them :(

Oh man, I'm not sure what teh gois there, this fix isn't 100% but does seem to work most of the time. Are these KZbin links? Or a website you own? If it's KZbin I don't have nay suggestions unfortunately, if it's a website you could consider adding Opengraph or social meta data to your pages if youhaven't already

But what if you do that and it says: Warnings That Should Be Fixed: Inferred Property The 'og:image' property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags. Missing Properties: The following required properties are missing: og:image, fb:app_id - it still doesn't show me an image preview on the debugger site :(

Hi Adam, you may have to add social meta data to the site if this is happening. If you're using WordPress you can use Yoast or All in One SEO to set this up. But otherwise, the debugger isn't perfect and will only work most of the time. Apart from that when it doesn't;t work it can be a real pain :(

Ahh that sucks. Unfortunately this doesnt work everytime. Sometimes Facebook just won play ball. A backup option i use is to share an imae anbpop a text link in the post text area. Not perfect but it does do the job to a degree

@@rae1596 No, unfortunately not. Facebook "customer service" is apparently designed to frustrate rather than resolve issues. I started posting to our FB page directly from our Wordpress site via the "share" feature within the posts. Then, eventually, FB started working properly again. I wish I had more helpful information!

Unfortunately, we switched from WordPress to a different CMS and I was unable to make the ‘share’ trick work! Yeah it does fail sometimes. You can try using a URL redirection, to some other URl that points to the same page. (add or subtract the www. is an idea) Or, share an image post with a link in the post information - not ideal but an option. Otherwise, it often comes good after some time. but it's not a perfect solution.

That sucks mate, it doesn;t work 100% of the time unfortunately. Some ideas: - Try adding or removing www. from the address if applicable. - Sharing a redirect link or an alternate WordPress link if you have any - or simply share an image with a link in the post text (or in the comments with a 'link in comments' line) - You can try again in an hour or so to see if it clears up. Not perfect, but that's what I try when it doesn't;t work for me.

Sorry to hear :( It doesn't work everytime. You can try using/not using the 'www' in your domain (the opposite of what you've tried already) and it may treat it like a new address - or simply post an image with a link in the caption or comments. It does work most of the time, but sometimes this tool just doesn't solve the issue :(

Never considered Facebook URLs themselves. I guess it must only work for external links.

@@wanderlust451 Are you trying to share your page and it's not loading the image? One thing I have done in the past is simple change the www.facebook.com part to facebook.com (no www) - or, consider sharing an image with a link in the caption or comments. An image would perform better anyway and you can put a small caption like 'link in comments' or something there too. I hope that helps, unfortunately we as users don't have a tonne of control over how Facebook does things :(

To futher my other comment, can you try removing or adding www. ? or even popping in a redirection link? I've had success there on odd occassion.
