Building on the success of multiple projects for Facebook, Level 10 was selected by the the Silicon Valley tech giant to build a second signature project-MPK 21-at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park. While MPK 20 was a large, fast-track-433,000 sq. ft. in 21 months-MPK 21 is even bigger and faster-524,000 sq. ft. in 17 months. Designed by architect Frank Gehry, both projects are highly technical, with complicated green roofs that span the building length for 9 acres and contain hundreds of mature oaks and native plants. Adding to the complexity of both projects, was the requirement to entirely 3D model the buildings prior to construction. Level 10 has adeptly implemented Gehry Partners’ proprietary 3D system on both projects. When complete, MPK 21 will connect to MPK 20, as well as contain a bridge from the structure to hiking trails across the highway and along the habitat-sensitive wetlands.
