long story short: Mikael states Peter left because he was just not interested in touring anymore. He wanted to go back to normal life.

How the fuck can anyone hate morningrise? Or think it's a mediocre album at that? Absolutely beautiful compositions are held within the piece. Black Rose Immortal is probably the most innovative death/black metal song to date
@acidotriflico88913 жыл бұрын
Bad production and songs are drowned in endless riffs that arent as dynamic or as interesting as next albums plus his vocal intonation Is sometimes off and that's not an opinion

sounds like shit, and is honestly really uninteresting and annoying at times.

those who are saying Morningrise being mediocre might be those who got into opeth until they became famous and mainstream in the Progressive scene... But way before that, Opeth was playing other kind of music, and their records were brilliant... if you didn't had the chance to listen as they were released it is a shame, but I can understand the haters coming 15 years later to say it is crap... you might not even enjoy metal...

Morninrise is the best Opeth album bar none. It was a mindfuck in the scene at that point. The Night and The Silent Water. To Bid You Farewell. Black Rose Immortal. Black/Death/ with 10 minute songs and classical counterpoint. If there was ever a merger of the black and death metal scenes (with the added value of the lyrics not being completely stupid), this is it. I like the prog metal Opeth. I even like the prog rock Opeth at times. But in the Morningrise through Still Life period (and Orchid as a near miss), they were at an entirely different level then all other music at the time. It was fucking magic. Mikael has this stage personae now, but he was more properly Scandinavian at the time. He would go up to the mic and explain he was from Sweden and he hoped you would like the song. Then then GRRRRRR. The most amazing death metal growl I have ever heard live. And the band would be playing complex shit, seamlessly switching between clean and distorted (vox and/or instruments). Don't get me wrong, they are still an amazing live band, even some new material is good. Just saw then at Ozzfest/Knotfest. But it is not the same, they were GODS. Now they are just amongst the greats of the mortals.

All great metal musicians that goes USA gets raped badly upon arrival or smth cause they never come back to Scandinavia the same/sane. ;_( >
@danielbarneski97896 жыл бұрын
@@grimner6666 Spoken like a Eurotrash idiot. Many, many great metal bands in the US. You know, even the ones that inspired the band in Scandinavia to start playing music. Would there have even been an Entombed, At the Gates, Opeth, or Edge of Sanity without Slayer, Death, Morbid, Megadeth, ect, ect ,ect, The list is WAY too long to name. The answer is probably not. I love Skandinavian metal, but the USA has nothing to do with bands losing their damn minds. Great bands have been losing their shit for a long time, and it won't stop anytime soon. I just appreciate the vast amount of great music they put out before they turn to shit. Not every band can be like Slayer and have every album be awesome. (-1, Nu Metal album was crap (DM))

There's no question about it. I don't think the artist himself believes so, but when the passion becomes a job for supporting a living, creating and playing music subconsciously becomes more of a 'duty' than about simply expressing something which the artist feels needs to be said.

Ive been in sweden for a week now and I can say that it was swedish in culture. He didnt say anything negative, he spoke the truth. Its just a slightly different culture from USA och Canada, so I can see why there would be outrage over it...

why should he regret it? He answered your overly badgering questions in an honest manner? It only became an "issue" if you will, because of your constant gnawing at it.

Thanks for your entirely subjective opinion. Makes all other subjective opinions and views completely wrong and obsolete. Wait, no. A subjective opinion is subjective and cannot be used against other people subjective opinions. Subjective is subjective. Check out an encyclopaedia if you're not sure what "subjective" means and why you failed completely with your comment.
