Pete Anderson tears it up! One of the finest Tele men in country music over the last thirty years.... Anderson has waxed tons of smoking hot guitar sounds over the years, but somehow his name doesn't come up enough when people mention the hottest players in country and roots music.

As much as I love Brent Mason and Brad Paisley, Pete Anderson will always be my number 1 favorite picker.

You and me both, Aaron! Ever since I heard Pete Anderson play in the 1980s, when Dwight burst onto the country scene as a new and exciting star, I've been floored by his wonderful but unorthodox playing. The guy just has to play a measure or two and you know it can't be anyone else....

The phrasing just feels incomplete on this solo. Maybe he has better pieces elsewhere but for now the crown still belongs to Brad.

I’m not a country music fan but I absolutely love Dwight Yoakum ... just saw him and his band at the Tivoli Theater in Chattanooga and really enjoyed it. Makes me really sad though that Pete is no longer with him, Pete is the BEST and made Dwight’s songs extra amazing, not the same without him. Like I said, I’m not a country fan, it was Dwight and Pete that got my attention. 99% of Dwight’s greatest tunes were with Pete.

Wow. I’ve followed Dwight over 30 years seen many of his shows, he and Pete just had this dynamic chemistry. I would just sit in awe, I just loved them together. I still love Dwight and follow him as often as I can, Eugene Edwards his current guitarist is a master as well, he’s so sweet I got a picture with Eugene and one with Mitch the drummer, so happy for Dwight & Emily and son Dalton. Happy Easter. 2024

Sadly you are right: to the mainstream probably his greatest contribution has been the work he has done on Guitar Centers King Of The Blues series. Still others think of him a "Dwight's Sideman"
@GeorgiaBoy19612 жыл бұрын
It may rub Pete Anderson the wrong way that he is remembered best for his work with Dwight, but to my way of thinking, he's being too tough on himself. There are many thousands of gifted musicians - millions? - who never got as far as he did. Buck Owens is a country legend to which Dwight is often compared. If that's a valid comparison, and I sure think it is, then Pete Anderson is Dwight's Don Rich, Buck's friend and sideman and the other essential half of their duet sound. Pete also produced Dwight's greatest hits and best music. One could even go so far as the argue that he was Dwight's "secret weapon" far as making hits was concerned. And unless he was irresponsible with his money, I bet Anderson made enough dough in his years with Dwight to keep him comfortable for life. That's no small thing, especially for a working musician.
