'There are no words to describe the symptoms' - absolutely bang on. This is exactly how I think of my Lyme symptoms and something I have heard about a lot about patients suffering from long-term Lyme infections. Just now I'm reminded of the radio host JV Vandergrift in San Francisco that ended his life after a Lyme diagnosis, and something he said on his last radio appearance: "The body and the pain and all that stuff, I can handle. What it’s doing to my brain I could never describe to you.”

Thanks for the great film! Hope it helps save lives! Sad to say that my family was not fortunate enough to get answers so quickly! This disease destroyed our lives!! Living with the damage is difficult but the relentless heartless nature of certain people and some uneducated medical staff does even more damage!!

I have had Lyme for many years. I have suffered for years. There are also co. Infections.unfortunetly it is a hard disease to diagnose. It can lay dormant after treatment, stress can bring it back,I believe more studies should be made to combat this terrible illness.i am so lucky to have found a Lyme literate Dr. I have suffered with joint pain ,neurologial symptoms etc. For years it's areal shame more Drs. Aren't trained to diagnose and to treat this diease properly.

Fantastic!! Absolutely the best video about Lyme disease I have ever seen!! Everyone should see this video and especially anyone who spends time outdoors. Seriously. I will be sharing this video with everyone I know and asking them to share it with everyone they know and on and on from there. We need to get the word out. As for me I’ve known about the problem with ticks for years. I use Permethrin on all of my outer layer clothes that I wear when outdoors. I spend a lot of time outdoors mainly deep in forests with very little undergrowth like grass and shrubs. There are a lot of deer and elk where I go and I’m aware that they carry ticks. So even though there isn’t much in the way of a tick’s normal vegetation the deer and elk carry them and you never know where a tick is going to fall off one of those animals. I also wear “gators” that I have sprayed with Permethrin over my boots and lower legs as an extra layer of protection. Everyone needs to be vigilant about checking for ticks.

Thank you for the video. Here in NC (USA) they do not know much of this disease or treatment for it. In 2018 they diagnosed me with late stage lymes and rocky mountain spotted fever at the same time. I still sufer today from it and 7 surgeries later I am still alive. Dr. need to listen and believe in their patients and learn of this disease. I have had so many problems with the Dr. Thank you again for the knowledge and getting it out there.

I'm in NC and have been kicked out of 3 doctors offices for trying to get help with what I now know is Lyme disease. They thought I was crazy and saw me as a nuisance who was wasting their time and taking appointment slots away from people who "really" needed help. It turned out, I had pernicious anemia in addition to Lyme. I told them all my symptoms. They were textbook. I had to figure it out myself and specifically pursue the proper tests. Thank goodness for the internet.

Fabulous and very informative. We moved to Nava Scotia a couple of years ago and my husband has had a couple of tics take a chunk out of him. Unfortunately, when it happened to us, the treatment part was not as proactive as it is now so I will be much more informed next time. I was fascinated by the preventative things that you can use like gravel, short lawns and natural bug deterrents. Well done!

I agree with you 100%! Due to ignorance about Lyme disease, I went decades before I was diagnosed by a Lyme Literate doctor with blood work done at IgeneX resulting in four positive bands and three co- infections, although even after 6 months of 3 different antibiotics, I keep getting re-exposure and more multiple embedded ticks because I continue to be around wildlife on a daily basis. I'm essentially homebound, have to pull my legs into the car in order to drive, my joints swell up and are so painful I can't move them at times, the pain in the tendons in the tops of my feet prevent me from walking, I have co-infections in my brain and my heart, and each day I just have to pray to get through the day. I have absolutely no help because the doctors don't believe in lyme (although I do have multiple spinal problems and I've had multiple surgeries due to other reasons). The offensive part was the doctor who said he wasn't worried about getting lyme as it was nothing to worry about.

Out of nowhere I had blinding pain around the midsection of my body. 4 days later with pain and fatigue I found a deer tick dug into my belly. I immediately went to the doctor and she dug the tick out and prescribed a 21 day dose of Doxycycline. After a week on the antibiotic the pain was mostly gone but I still had bouts of fatigue. I finished the 21 day dose last Monday and am feeling great again with only a slight bit of fatigue. Where would I be if I had not found the tick?

I live in the Annapolis Valley, close to Bridgetown, NS....and had a bullseye in 2017 that I didn't know was even from a tick. Then in 2020, I had another bullseye that I took myself to one of the tiny hospitals in the valley for. The Dr. on site there said if I didn't know how long the tick had been on me, I didn't need anything as likely it was not on long enough (I had a bullseye!!). I had been reading and felt I should get some Doxycycline which the Dr. did not want to give me. I insisted on something and she came back with one pill. I felt deflated, but just carried on. Have subsequently had another 'nymph' bite, but since I believe I would have chronic Lyme now....I have researched and am figuring it out on my own as there really are no Dr.'s in the area and I cannot travel far. What I'm doing is definitely helping though and I'm aware that I will likely have to stay on top of it for life.

What a bad, bad doctor!! I got a lyme bite in PEI this summer. Back in Alberta within a week and got the suggested blood test for Lyme. Positive. I had all the early symptoms, including the numb chin, the feeling my heart wasn't quite right. All the digestive and flu-like symptoms early on. I am now on a course of the wide spectrum antibiotic for the next 14 days. I can't say the name, or it bumps my comment.

Male ticks will bite and swell with some blood but not to the extent of females. So with hard shelled ticks the best way to determine male vs female is to look at the “scutum” or the shell on the back of the tick. A male tick has a complete scutum but a female tick has a half scutum that allows it swell when feeding.

Personality, I wouldn't use pet shampoo. I don't believe it would prevent any tick bites, it will only clean them out of his hair. If you drench your dry hair in Listerine mouthwash, a my d wrap in plastic bag for a couple hours, that will clean your hair of any tiny critters. There are plenty human remedies he can use to keep the bugs off, eg deet, neem, etc. Also, I've heard 24 grams of salt tablets, and 30000 mg of vitamin C, will cure Lyme disease.
