I can attest. I had FEMA inspector come, took photo of my trump poster on my wall, then I was denied the next week. I still have a tree leaning on house. I'm a disabled vet. Had no power and flooding for weeks. Lost all food in fridge. Just ridiculous. Almost seemed random who got the 750. Got friends with no damage who got it. And others like me were denied for no apparent reason.... Other than political offiliation

A few thoughts: might some of the parents of the separated children believe their children are actually better off socially and financially in the hands of foster parents or relatives in the USA? Especially if parents have to "blow their cover" to claim their children and that would expose them to danger, then the children would consequently also be in danger. I do know some migrants who fled gang violence cannot reconnect with the family left behind, for example, the father pays to send the mother and kids to America, then has to join the gang to stay alive. Plus, if some kids are the children of the coyotes and drug runners or the children of prostitutes, those parents may not want their children back.
