Doesn't matter if it hurts or not. In these kind of sports, if you intentionally attack the ref, you get an immediate disqualification and a lifetime ban from the sport.

this is appalling, i hope i can be there soon but i have friends who competes in TKD at state and national level and ones who even represent australia and they always complain about the incompetence of the scoring system, which i even admit is not very reliable but this loser on the other hand was DQ'd for a perfectly right reason, the fact that he didn't know the rules is his own fault and that of his coach. So the fact that he kicked the ref is just ridiculous.

@@kathrynpowell7913 he was going for the kick not blocking it. He mistook the range and he knew he was too close and when he was gonna drop it down the man in blue kicked and hit the feet. For me, the ref should have gave him a second chance. I understand on why he is angry since u dont always go and compete in the olympics. The kick was disrespectful tho.

ref was right, because they set a rule to allow you treat your wound in a certain of time, this is to avoid candidates buying time, if the time took too long he has no choice but let the guy lose, you can see his "medical time" has reduced to zero, and he already lost 3-2.

@magicmofy2871 extra stoppage time can only be called in rare circumstances, such as blood, broken bones, etc. If you ask me this does not qualify for one of those instances so the fighter needed to be up and ready to go at the end of 60 seconds. That said this video is from 16 years ago so maybe the rules were a little different back then. Regardless, the fighter clearly wasn't so the referee made the right call to stop the match.

The center referee here has fault btw, after keyshi the center referee should call the 2 players to resume the game not to declare who wins🤦♂️ but to prepare them and to ask the team Cuba if he wants to continue the game... and if the player says he can't then that's the right time for the center referee to declare if who wins the game...

Ve que no sabes todo el sacrificio que hace un latinoamericano para llegar a nivel mundial y más en el taekwondo que es tan difícil, yo hubiera hecho lo mismo, lo agarro afuera y le rompo la cara a el y a todos los que se metan, y no me vengas con lo de los valores del taekwondo y esas porquerías porque a la mayoría de los "grandes maestros" de tkd solo les importa el dinero y marketing y hasta cosas peores y te lo digo porque yo compito y lo veo en cada competencia y no hay nada más horrible que te roben sabiendo el esfuerzo que se hace.

Se que sentiría un muy triste pero tuvo la culpa que se le va hacer además se ve como se recupera rápidamente. I think he was cheated they was treating him and a clock should’ve stopped. Although he wasn’t right for attacking the referee but he felt cheated and anger prevailed. Banning the coach is a bit overboard I don’t understand the reasoning behind that ? TKD is junk with the rules and boring to watch . I lost interest in the system as it is now in 2022.

Even if the referee allowed that match to continue, Matos would have been given a penalty for delaying the match and it would have gone to tiebreakers. He may have ended up losing regardless so it's impossible to say he won the fight right there.

Si no sabe las reglas no comente, si un competidor pide asistencia tiene un minuto para volver si no pierde la pelea, claramente hay un cronómetro en cuenta regresiva que llega a 0, el árbitro le hace la advertencia previamente, no se incorpora, pierde la pelea, así está en el reglamento, parece q los cubanos no se tomaron la molestia de leerlo y al parecer tampoco lo leíste tu

Add to the fact that he was leading, ref was just looking for the tiniest excuse to make sure he lost. If I'm not mistaken, strictly speaking, the ref is obligated to call 3 times. And only then, if he is still not ready should he be disqualified. So yeah, corrupt ref. Head blow was probably worth the bribery he got. In a separate Matos interview where he regrets his actions, he disclosed a bribery attempt for him (and his coach) to throw the match. He could be lying but if true, then for sure, that bribery budget is going to be spent elsewhere. Lets simulate the opposite, say the ref didn't disqualify Matos. No one's going to go up in arms about that.
