@ImJustWingingIt I dont do anything with the part that is sticking out inside the head. The eyelashes are soft so they will bend nicely around the eyes when you add them. As long as you glue them properly there shouldnt be any issues. Thank you :)

@ayang005 D= !!! It took me 5 hours to find that song. It sounded pretty neutral to me >_< But then again people always argue about music taste. I will try to find some other options, but it is not as easy or cheap since I need to buy a licence to get the rights to play it in the video.

@BiscuitDegaro aww thanks! This was a commissions so it was not my Jess ^^ I actually find it a good opportunity if I have to paint a sculpt that I own, because I can paint the eyebrows/eyelashes/ in a different way and if I like it very much I can change my own dolls too :)

I love how the makeup is always so night and light .I've never done a face-up before,but,I think I would rather watch someone as talented as you do face-ups!Just watching you do face-ups makes me nervous about doing my first face-up.I know that most people who do their first face-ups aren't so good but most of them are amazing!

i think fairyland should just approach you to do faceups for them hahaha, i bet you've boosted a lot of their sales! If i ever get a doll in larger size, i'll def consider this sculpt i know! Thanks so much Andreja for taking the time to record and edit and put up this vid, i know you must have a lot of faceup commissions going on, so thank you for sharing. ♥

few questions: what do you use as sealant? it doesn't appear to add any gloss or extra thickness to the head do you brush color right off the pastel sticks, or do you shave it and dip your brush in the powder? when you add lashes, do you trim the extra on the "inside" of the head, or can the eyes be placed without the ends getting in the way? thanks for posting these, they're terribly fun to watch~!

That is the aim yes, you usually want a body for the head :) Because these heads are commissions only, I do not get the bodies sent since it would make shipping costs even more expensive for my clients.

I use it to remove any dust specks that got stuck on the faceup during the sealing process :)
@Maleficently
@Maleficently 13 жыл бұрын
@HoshiBerry Usually (and I can't speak for Nicolle, but most faceup artist's I know, and the few I've done myself) you scrape a small amount of pastel "dust" off the pastel stick with a razor and apply that to the brush like you would say, blush make up, and then apply layers onto the doll. It can take several layers to make a large impact, which is one of the nice things about pastels, you can control how heavy or light the color is.

Wow! You are amazing!! I really love watching you do face-ups (and for the record, I think the song is PERFECT and I hope you keep it for all your face-up vids! It's relaxing and enjoyable to listen to!) and I hope you continue this series for a LONG time in the future! :) I'm so impressed by skilled face-up artists like you! I wouldn't have the patience for all the tiny details that add up to make an amazing face-up! I can't wait for the next video! :)

None of my faceups are symmetrical, but I strive to make them as close as possible ^___^ It is definitely a big challenge and what makes it even more difficult is the fact that so many sculpts have got a lot of asymmetrical features that complicate things even further.

Hi Andreja! I have a few questions for you: 1) What is that cute little green eraser you are using? 2) Wouldn't an exacto-knife be dangerous on resin (scratching, particularly)? 3) What happens to the back end of the lashes that stay inside the head? Looks like they would interfere with eyes, no? Thanks, and excellent job with this video!

What beautiful work you do! How long does it typically take you to do a face up? Also, what do you do with the eyelashes that hang into the face plate? Do you cut them down and with what? I just don't understand how eyes would fit in without pushing the lashes out.

Great video! I learnt a lot from your last video, especially regarding technique with the pencil. It really helped in my latest faceup. ^^ One question: you do the lower lashes and eyebrow hairs several times. Are you simply retracing previous lines, or adding more lines? Thanks.

Thanks for the video, Andreja!! >w< I have one question that popped in my mind in the first video... how do you manage to make the eyelashes not interfere in the way you fit the eyes in the sockets? I mean, you don't glue them exactly in the roots, but a little backwards, so I was ondering if the eyes don't take them off, or force the lashes to other shape, or even don't fit in any way o.o If so, do you have any tips to avoid that? ^^ Thanks a lot in advance!!! ♥

Yes but NOT oil pastels, avoid everything that says "OIL" because it will damage the resin. The key is "Soft" pastels (chalk pastels)and for gloss and paint always use "acrylic", as for pencils, watercolor pencils. Good brands (check if they're oil or soft): Mungyo Gallery pastels, Rhembrandts, Schmincke, Sennelier, Holbein.

@NicollesDreams Well, I just think you did it right. The song must be neutral and not interfere too much with the video. I have a question. I noticed you used one brand of watercolors when doing the eyelids and another one when you were drawing the creases of her eyes, does that help make the color more visible faster or it doesn't really matter which brand you use for different parts of her face? Sorry for the confusing question.

I reccomend practicing on clearance EAH, monster high, or Bratz dolls like the other person said. Very simple materials are needed when you first start. I am working on my second repaint (an mlp) and I have used only sealant, acrylic paint, chalk pastels, artist grade colour pencils (such as prisma colour or watercolour pencils) and of course polish remover to remove the factory paint. Once you advance and if you continue to enjoy it you can invest in some nicer products.
