Facing 150kph on the bowling machine at the Brisbane Cricket Centre

Just want to address some of the negative comments on this video saying either the speed is wrong or why am I playing stupid shots and I know where the ball is going to be. Firstly I know the speed is right because it is very full it looks slower and a bad main camera angle on my behalf. This is a state of the art speed gun that I know in my heart is accurate even if no one else does. Secondly I was just trying to entertain the cricketing audience with some different shots. I can guarantee you this video would’ve got very little views if I was just forward defending/ driving balls the whole time. I’m not that good a batsman I’m actually predominantly a bowler but just have good hand eye coordination, I can’t focus for a long innings anymore. And lastly yes it is easier knowing where the ball will be but that’s a bowling machine I had no other way of facing 150 than to get on the machine and try and entertain you guys with different shots. Usually I’d face a sidearm. Thanks for the positive comments as well 🙏

Maybe because... He knows where the ball is being bowled. He is moving even before the ball is being delivered. Maybe that's why he is able to time the ball. That will not happen when an actual bowler hits 140.

He is playing easily because the line and length is already predicted and the bowl is not released from a height of 8 feet which a real bowler releases a ball . So speed is not everything the West Indies bowlers gave nightmare to everyone with less than 150 speed

To be fair to him, as the guy himself acknowledges, playing these kinds of shots against 150kph bowling when you know all of the balls will be pitched up and in the same general area (which is what a bowling machine does) is quite different to being brave enough to commit to these kinds of shots against a real bowler who will be throwing in much more variation, especially of length, including bouncers at 150kph.

Not taking anything away from you but that machine is hitting a specific spot every single time. So everytime you know where’s the ball gonna be pitched. If the ball was pitching on different spots , you wouldn’t have been able to play most of the balls.

That is the concept of using a machine. They are not variable until manual adjustment is made on machine. Machines are usually adjustable to simulate swing bowling.

Yes his timing and middling is amazing, and yes it is 150kpmh (you can say 140 or 135 if you don't want to believe) he is knowing where the bowl is being bowled. Since it's a bowling machine, he can set in the machine to keep the ball offside, i know because i have myself played 120kpmh in a bowling machine while changing the line. Hence he is moving before the ball is being bowled and just executing the shot when the ball comes. Amazing batting still💯🔥

Almost exactly. I find that if you use old balls, they swing or bounce differently, which can be tricky at 150kph. I imagine that he was using new balls, giving more consistency.

It's not about the speed, it's about the pitch. On a dead UAE pitch, 150 kph isn't all that. On a bouncy, swinging Aussie pitch 150 kph is the stuff of nightmares.

Anyone who’s ever faced a bowler at these speeds always finds new respect for international cricketers. I have done a net session like this at these speeds knowing where the ball is going and it’s still close to impossible to play. You have no idea how quick it is unless your actually opposite the machine or bowler. No camera or recreation can give you a sense of the speed the ball moves
