How this has come around so quickly I do not know, but it's time to get back out eventing. Getting out for my first event of the year didn't have the usual buzz, instead I was filled with nerves and worry about jumping on grass again. However, Dee the wonder horse hadn't forgotten a thing. I hope you enjoy the first eventing vlog of 2023!

You can see Lucinda’s influence in both the dressage and show jumping. You really keep Dee in front of your leg consistently, and when you do, she thrives. This was very good to watch. Good for you for doing it so bravely. As always, loved Pete’s Eats.

Meg, I had an almost fatal accident. (I'm fine now) It took me at least a year to watch a movie with a horse in it. It took me years to muck stalls, much longer to turn out (it happened on the ground.) I never once blamed the horses. The terror of any mishap is real. I did my another horse. Gave him away to a 14 year old who loves him still and I don't know if I will ever go back. The point is, having any kind of accident is terrifying. The PTSD (Sorry call it like I see it) is real. Every time you go to a show, it floods back and the terror grips you and the what ifs and will my pony be okay. Don't let anyone tell you differently. It is HARD. You are remarkable, you are fighting through it. Cut yourself some slack, don't give up and remember you are your worse enemy and your best friend. You know how to do it. Deep breathing. Let your body work on muscle memory and remember this is not Bicton. You are not the same person and you will do it. Love from Maryland.

I just love Dee and the two of you together. She is such an intelligent mare and always seemed absolute aware that there was a competition which she wanted to WIN . But now - it is so lovely to see how much she tries to take care of you. I swear this little horse understands it all. Give yourself time and grace and I honetsly believe you will come back stronger.

You have no idea how excited I am to see you doing cross country again!!!! I am so happy to see you regaining confidence and facing your fears. It is a very difficult thing to do for everyone, but instead of letting it pull you under, you stood your ground. You are one of the most inspiring equestrians that I know of❤. Keep staring fear in the face, and telling it to back away before you pack your punch :). Thank you for everything you do for us, and keep on living the dream ✨

You got back in. Brilliant. Now you'll work through riding through your thoughts instead of dwelling and you'll grow. You've grown so much and it shows with every fence through this video that you're so deep in your head, trying so hard to get out of your own way but my dear lady you did it and you'll get better and better. The fact is you will likely fall again, but you do all you can to prevent that and all you can to keep yourself and your horses safe but no rider alive rides free of falls and you've done so much to be sure you can stay safe through them when they happen and now you're developing the greatest part of a great rider and trainer. Your ability to cope, to move on and to grow. Bravo brave lady. Courage is not the absence of fear and doubt, it is forging forward in spite of them.

As a one off to see if it keeps your nerves down why not let Hannah warm Dee and Jam in the warm up for show jumping, and you get on her and go straight in? As it seems that it's in the warm up where your nerves build which makes you panic for the real thing so id remove that until your confidence is back. I would actually pop over one fence in the warm arena after iv done my round to finish off, working in a way backwards helps your brain get rid of nerves as it's the routine and patten which triggers it all! ❤

Fabulous work from both you and Dee, this was the confidence boost you needed. You have a pony that will get over whatever jump you point her at, you saw how well she did with Ellie. You know that you can jump after riding Lucinda's horse you just need to have the confidence to put the two together. Hopefully after coming 2nd in this competition you will go forward and get back to your usual self.

oh where to start.... saw a quick clip of your dressage warm up - thought wow look at that lift in the trot! Loved Dees excitement, so lovely to see her so keen. Dressage done tick, well done. I hoped with all my mite that the show jumping would go well and that you would keep the enjoyment and confidence you found with Lucinda. I wanted her in your ear. I was doing it with you both lol, I was so proud of you, Dee was a superstar she tried so hard to say, we have got this mum. I kept saying, give Meg - give Meg. Well done, i was so pleased that you did it. Cross country, some wobbles with confidence, some great bits - its done first one under your belt, onwards and upwards you will be a great team once again this season. When i first started to watch your vlogs you seemed to always go clear, you just need to believe again. You have the skills and the horses, you just need the confidence and believe in yourself.
