I work in spine surgery, and the best thing I can tell you is to increase your core strength if you keep having severe muscle spasms. It helps stabilizing everything. And honestly, stay aware of that numbness in your feet... could be a dic bulge/herniation. If the frequency of the symptoms increases, might be worth getting checked out and getting an MRI for a better look. Nothing to freak out about, 30% of people resorb disc herniations, but also something to be aware of. Hype your'e back!

Was in a bad car accident in February and lost my dog and haven’t been able to run or workout since. Was training for a marathon and have lost a ton of progress and had to push it back. First time commenting: I ran the first couch-to-5k run today! I’ve ran it before (maybe twice in my adult life) but have always given up and have never gone back for the second run. I’m determined for this not to be the case this time. I really want to know that I can stick to something and that I have the willpower to overcome bad health habits. Thanks Cody and you all for the inspiration! Reading the comments is one of my fave parts of any cody trains video (meant to be a compliment haha sorry if this sounds backhanded). Hope you’re all feeling good :)) Edit: choo choo

Thats amazing! I am also training for my first half marathon - any tips? You must be light tho, light and fast, impressive time
@sp1d3rn1nja7Ай бұрын
@@kattpuzn Yeah I am pretty light, only like 20% BMI, but the key is consistency. I would run 5 to 6 days a week, typically a speed workout, a long day (around 10 to 13 miles), and the rest of the days averaging around 6 miles. Dont make excuses either, I'm a college student but still work my ass off in any free time I have to be a better runner. Cutting out sweets also helped me a ton (candy, cookies, soda, etc). Most important part is consistency. Get your legs used to running longer distances so when you go to do it it'll feel like a long run that you're just pushing harder than normal. Also good sleep never hurts either
@kattpuznАй бұрын
@@sp1d3rn1nja7 all solid advice, thanks a lot. Motivation is not a problem :) its been hard running for me, I'm 6.2 feet and was 237 pounds at my heaviest a few months ago. Down to 198 pounds now, shooting for 176-187 pounds before the half marathon. Running is getting a lot easier and I cant wait for warmer weather. As long as I can stay clear of injuries, sleep and eat sufficient amounts I'll be golden. Thanks for the answer, it helps to hear from "normal people" not just influencer athletes
@katebeumer3524Ай бұрын
Ran a 50 miler for the first time in January heavily because of this channel and got off course by 6 miles and almost had a freak out panic attack and the way Cody laughs about things going wrong helped me keep going!! Had to turn around for the 50k bc I missed cut off times bc of getting off course and ended up finishing the 50 miles on the hotel treadmill, energy was everything.

As a fellow millennial with back issues…. man I’ll just say BEEN THERE! You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned strength training. I started incorporating 2 full body strength train sessions per week into my weekly training schedule and my back issues have completely gone away. This is coming from a guy who has had 3, yes 3 back injuries in the past 2 years. I’m now at a place where I can start training for triathlons again. So exciting! Thanks for the content man, it’s inspirational as well as relatable. I’ll be going out of town next month the same week training starts. I as well love waking up on vacation and getting active, helps me enjoy the rest of the day. Cheers bruv!
