i'm sure that you have your own teaching method, but it just seems to me it would be easier if you just used a grouping technique and then factor out GCF's from each binomial, instead of using a box method, which, for me, seems overly complicated. although it might be conceptually more difficult to use factoring by grouping, once a student has this down, it would be much easier organization wise.
