You just start building , using logic, at the starting of the game, you know , the basic setup , coal and iron mines once your , pretty basic setup is done , you zoom out Wait did i just built this? And it is pretty much the same thing for everything you build, from thi basic iron setup to the nuclear energy , trains , and at some point , rocket

Sad Duck late reply, but I originally start with plans for it to produce a little bit for my guns and a couple turrets. By the time I was done 4 hours later, it could make like 5k an hour and not be at full capacity. That was when I realized my iron and copper production were garbage and set off to scale that up. This game is a never ending rabbit hole. I got out of it for a few months then decided to play it last night for an hour. Huge mistake. 5 hours in I realized I had to be up for work in 3 hours. XD

Factorio is a game about automation. You start off small, and alone in this alien world with a few resources to your name. You must start building a mining outpost, then smelting, then power and then more assembly. This keeps on going, adding more links to the process to include things like batteries, laser turrets, trains, construction and logistical robots and more. I have played this for literally hundreds of hours before the steam release, and would recommend this to anyone who loves to think their way through problems. The devs are amazing, and have kept up with a dev blog release every Friday for the past 2 years or so. It is amazing. I love it.

they were going to add a second stage to the game (in spess) which you have to use the rockets for, then I assume use space technology to do space things in space. I really like the look of this. I've been wishing someone would make a similar RTS game that involves complex military and resource logistics on a massive scale. Imagine that rocket at the end being a mech construction factory and you're churning out these colossal machines to send to war against another player after having developed your base for tens of hours. Kind of like a larger and more complex version of supreme commander; land, sea and air... Ahh, one day.

I've been thinking the same thing as I play the game (Dangerously addicting) and was about to comment about how that would be a great direction for Supreme Commander to go and then you mentioned it yourself haha. That'd be pretty awesome. I think the best chances of something like that happening would be if the teams behind Civilization and Supreme Commander got together. Either that or the original Cavedog Entertainment crew needs to get back together(Even though they're already largely behind the Supreme Commander series as Gas Powered Games) and produce another incredible game!

I reaaaaallly wish they would add some kind of eco and bio tech to the game. You could for example research a tech to produce Alien Artefacts yourself so you dont have to destroy bases, and you could manage pollution to prevent bases from spawning and growing in the first place. You could plant trees to reduce pollution, utilize all that wood that you have sitting in chests to make bio materials that can be used say to make fill to fill in lakes. I know a lot of this is available in mods already, but it really should be added to vanilla.

The ecology mod as I imagine it would technically allow to to kill the planet both faster and to a greater extent :P You could convert trees, dirt, and biter corpses into bio fuel so you dont need as much crude oil. You could modify the ground, the water, and even the genetics of the biters and the trees :P

it ought to be. there are >1000 games that either work with the planet or try to save the planet. factorio would be the 1st where the aim is to poison the planet, although a better aim would be to turn it into a robot planet, like out the 1980s transformer film.

Yeah, but the game is impossible to beat then. You can check peaceful mode when making a new game, it makes it so aliens never attack first. But a lot of the tech, including the rocket, needs alien science packs to develop. And the packs are made from alien artifacts. You get the artifacts when you kill an alien hive. Sorry, but you need to fight if you want to beat the game.

There is a mod that let's you craft alien artifacts with oil products, so you can just disable biters then.

There is also a mod that makes a new resource, so you can mine them too. But, no legit way to avoid fighting.

Yes, it's either possible to play "casual" mode and just not get into space in the vanilla version, or you can find that mod that lets you make the "loot" that you would get if you fought the aliens and beat the game peacefully. You don't have to fight anything if you don't want to.

Use mods so that you can get Alien Artifacts without fighting. Or else, play multiplayer, and leave all the fighting to the others. Factorio lends itself somewhat well to player roles. Some built, others defend and attack. Some might enjoy futzing around with the trains/railway system.

just noticed two of the names in the multiplayer part are Kovarex and Tomas. Kovarex is the main creative source for the whole game, and Tomas is the guy that runs the business.

Actualythe aliens look like an evolved,intelegent race of xeno's.They even comunicate thro mind and voice command's.The hatcheries maybe living beings beacuse they look to have body organs and yes,they migrate.
