Factorio: Ultimate DeathWorld Challenge Episode 1

Hey, nice to see other taking on this challenge as well! I scrolled a bit through the 3 episodes you have up. Curious to see if your "I'm just gonna build a base like usual"-approach is going to work! The forests will help in the very early game, but once you go past green science, most of the pollution will be converted into biter attacks. Of course, you've recorded 5 more episodes by this point so I guess you'll be alright for at least a while :) One thing this map has got going for it is that you won't need to take out a single biter nest until you need more iron! How much iron was in your starter patch at the start of the game? Anyway, good luck! And congrats on 10k!

Wow, didn't think I would pull your attention! The legend himself! Starter iron is very bad! Like 200k and dwindling fast! The usual pasta mess may just work! Just need the trusty flame throwers... And a little bit of seed hunting (maybe 15 minutes or so) to find a seed I didn't have to die repeatedly to the nests early game was the idea!

That series is actually still ongoing, so some new episodes being released for that too. Was put down for a around a year... but due to popular demand we have revisited it to mega base it, and clear our the biter menace once and for all!

I recon you will have to stand there feeding the guns if not enough time to max them out at 200. I would place the smelters further away in a "V" so as to make shore you split up to your two guns. Yet look at your map to see which nest(s) are being bothered first. Good fun though, good luck

Nice challenge :-) We'll see if you do as fine as Michael ... The hardest part seems to be able to find a good map. I checked on my last deathworld map, I spawned right in the middle of a nest 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Didnt spend too long looking for a seed, I just had three main requirements not in any order of importance: 1. Oil close-ish 2. Ores, Iron / Stone / Copper / Coal close together And.... 3. Not a desert start! Need a few trees!

If I ever try this challenge, I will soften it for myself with the following changes: -Enemy expansion off, or severely neutered -Biters don’t evolve with time -Probably the default 50% Death World Starting area. Then I still have to worry about base defense, and lots of it, but the early game can be really relaxed as I roam for rocks and leave as many trees as possible standing near my base. I can hand mine until I can hand craft an electric mining drill. Cheaty, but more my speed of challenge.

To be fair, enemy expansion is the worst! My favorite relaxed game style is railworld, with the ore massively expanding as you leave the starter area, and no expansion!
