It is nice feeling as you near the end of the build process and see what you have created. Even though you can customize a production car, building one of these is a whole different experience. @@decelation This is really important. There are just not many build videos out there. I can say, that as much as the build is fun, driving it the car is a whole different thing. I have put 3,000 miles on my hot rod in the first year. Oh and one more thing. I keep 5-10 Matchbox hot rods in my car. When young children come over to look at the car, I like to hand them out.

That's awesome. Thank you for the support. I would definitely say those have been the most challenging part of the build so far. The coolant system was partially self inflicted though because redesigned the routing of the lower radiator hose because we didn't like the initial routing.

Ya know this truck would really look great with suicide doors. I called factory and mentioned this to them they were not going to change it, lol. I've been on the FFR site and this popped in YT. I too built a 1972 Stepside Chevy and it took me a year. 454HO, ATI trans, blah, blah, blah. It sits in the garage now waiting on me to re-wire the alternator. I think I might sell "Stumpy" and put that towards the 35 Truck. You've inspired me to get motivated. Stumpy is an all steel ride. Zero rust... But getting him there was a challenge. I like the idea of fiberglass, modern chassis and running gear - and no rust!! BTW - How does it handle? Looks like it would handle like a slot car.

Fiberglass does come with it's own set of headaches. I will say the FFR chassis is extremely well designed. I haven't taken the car to fast yet because I am still building it but it does handle like it is on rails

Thank you. I really appreciate it. Dedication is the hardest part of this build. Having a technical background definitely helps because a nut is a nut and a bolt is a bolt. Doesn't matter if it is on a car or in a piece of equipment. You will learn as you go and start to get more comfortable as you get deeper into the build. I say go for it. You still need to purchase your drivetrain, rear end, wheels, tires, and battery at a minimum. There are other things that come up and you will need to purchase as well. Decent set of hand and power tools. Wrenches, ratchets, allen keys, drills are necessities but others are nice to have

Can you make a video of you sitting in the truck? May we ask how tall you are....is it comfortable or cramped? Ready to order a kit but have never sat in one and some people on the forum are saying they're a pretty tight fit for people over 6 ft.

I have not mounted the seats yet, that is coming soon. You can make a little more space by making brackets that lift the seat up. I am 6ft 1 and I fit but it is tight. I definitely recommend getting the tilt steering wheel. That is a must have for taller people.

Hey Declenation- very nice truck. I was looking at this truck kit as an electric truck project. I was thinking 2 rear electric motor [similar to what you see on a tesla] and the bed would have as many batteries as i can configure in the bed from the rear axle forward. I found 2 battery pack options that are 3 inches tall. How deep is the bed of your truck. It would not have the roaaar but it would be a quick truck.

The wiring harness is very well labeled and color coded. There are a lot of extra wire based on your application since it is an universal harness that works for all of factory 5 vehicles

Thank you. Overall it was not bad to build. There are parts that are really annoying and you get really comfortable making modifications to make things work. It is definitely worth it. I am still building it so I haven't really taken it over 25 but it does drive well so far. The hardest part is maintaining motivation to continue to work on it. They are many days where you can put in hours of work then have to undo it all. Honestly I did an insane amount of planning before hand so I wouldn't change anything because I built exactly what I wanted

I assume you also had a regular job of 40 to 50 hours per week so that meant that you worked evenings and weekends. Thanks for you video. I have thought about a FFR car for many years but did not have the money or time to put into it. Now retired I have all my waking hours to work on the truck project.

Thank you, I really appreciate it. That is a very hard question to answer for a few factors. Filming adds easily adds 30% more time just from figuring out how to do the work in an angle that could be filmed with adequate lighting. We also spend a lot of time while not actively building doing research for parts and other aspects of the build. Yes we both worked full time and I would say on average we spent about 10 hours weekly on the build process. I would say since April 1st, 2020 there were about 6 weeks that no work was done on the truck.

No it is not. That was a beautiful style cue that came out of necessity because we rerouted the coolant system.

It is hard to say how many hours because filming adds 30% more time easily. The hardest part is maintaining motivation to consistent work on it. I think the biggest surprise was when it arrived and I had to inventory 30 boxes of parts. Honestly I did a lot of research and tried to overbuild this to make sure it exceeds my expectations so I can't think of something I would do differently.
