Factory Five Type 65 Coupe

We designed the Type 65 Coupe to be an accurate replica of the original 1965 World Championship Coupe. It was made to capture the look and feel of the original 200 mph GT cars, but also use today’s engineering to make it more reliable and comfortable.
Like our Roadster, the Coupe can be built two ways. You can buy a base kit that is “donor Mustang capable,” or you can buy the complete kit that gives you just about every nut and bolt you’ll need to build the car.

How much would it cost, "ballpark" to have a decent engine, suspension etc. put in? 300ish hp, 250 ft lbs of torque, great suspension, big brakes etc. $25,000ish for what the company gives you in the kit, then what, about $10,000 for a new engine, $5,000 for the suspension and brakes? $5,000 for a new drive train? I've had old Porsche's, new BMW's etc. so I know how expensive sports car ownership is but I would like to zero in on a ballpark price so I can decide on if this car is appropriate for me.

The average Coupe build cost is around $45,000 depending on the options you select with the kit, what you do for wheels/tires, engine/transmission, and paint.

You can use a 1987-1993 Ford Mustang as a donor car or go with the complete kit version of the kit which gets you everything you need to build the car minus engine/transmission/rear end, wheels/tires, and paint.

Is it possible to put in a BMW straight-six? Ford V8's are hard to come by in Germany, and Fuel is 7,30$/gallon, so it would be a PAIN IN THE ASS to get a ford engine and put it in.

You would need to make custom engines mount and get a custom axle made. Not sure how it would fit. You could also try a ls400 engine. Not sure what v8s are sold I’m Europe

i love you factory five racing but this car cannot be "period correct" and have a longer wheelbase (or coil overs, mustang irs, fiberglass body, space frame, et al). in fact this machine, as high quality as it is, is far from period correct.

@G webster - Actually, the word coupe' is derived from the French word. That said, it is becoming more common to see the British drop the accent over the "e". Times are changing. Do you also think the ONLY acceptable pronunciation of the word Jaguar is Jag-u-ar? If so, check your own Oxford Dictionary as well as American Webster's Dictionary and you'll see that they are both correct!

What do you mean 1:19 "...it was just too small"? So you stretched five inches? & bloated the overall size?...why? to appeal to the obese & overtly tall population as a whole? While this makes for a good marketability ploy, it is contrary to the purity of the original design. Why do you think the US sells so many pickups?, many cannot physically fit inside a whole slew of "normal-sized" cars. The Video is not HD but the aspect ratio of the player is HD, making the width seem wider and more squished than normal. The new Gen 3 coupe looks even better than the originals IMHO. After I finish my Roadster and my buddies 33' the Type 65 by Factory five is my next build.

Dude... If you want that much of a pure replica then hit up the brand the sells "American Muscle" out of S. Africa. It's not just fat Americans there's simply big folks like body builders, athletes, etc. If you look at a FFR then you should be enjoying the fact you're reenacting the Shelby experience of the 60s, making a dominating race car in your garage.
