Editing to say that I don't have a strong opinion about the last places, currently I don't think Giselle should be last. "Average" refers to the average skill level to be able to dance kpop choreo without major problems, not to the average skill level in the industry.

She's definitely inspirational, and I guess that's what happens when you love performing and it really shows when you see her on stage ❤‍🔥I'm just so glad she's able to continue living her dream

@@chrissyalapo-calg9748 I agree. Wendy is my favorite dancer in Red Velvet. She's not even better than Seulgi and Irene but I think she looks the best while performing the choreography. There is something more eye catching about her dancing. She had the best dynamics. She's also working on being more detailed with her movements and her isolations have improved drastically since debut.

When it comes to Lisa's predebut dance I believe that since her spot in bp wasnt necessarily guaranteed it was important that she should stand out especially in what she was good at (dance) thus leading her to put more emphasis in her moves so she could stand out amongst the others, but now after debuting I think making the group look more unified or something along those lines became the next most important thing as there was no longer a specific need to 'stand out' as she is now apart of a group. (this is just my opinion, i could be completely wrong). Anyways great video! Enjoyed it very much and found it quite informative even though i'm not a dancer myself.

I definitely agree with your commentary on Lisa. I've always had a love/hate relationship with her because she was so technically good but so boring to me. For the longest time I couldn't realize why I didn't like her until one day it hit me: she never really "got into" her dances. She was always perfect with angles and facial expressions but seldom did she captivate me like Mark or taeyong from NCT. It's because she is limited by the group's image. I would LOVE to see her perform one of BP's choreo FULL out and just the way that SHE wants to. Also, it must suck to love dancing so much but be unable to go full out. If that was me, I would be so sad on stage.

the way that you mentioned lia’s physical body feature of straight shoulders at 3:56 intriguiged me, and i actually agree. it’s made me think about another particular female idol who i noticed has a feature which really affects her dance quality. from what i can tell choi yujin of clc, now kep1er, has extremely collapsed arches. her leg placements are always affected by this, and she often executes moves incorrectly with her knees together. i was wondering if anyone else has noticed it - i’d be really interested it you did a video on idols whose body posture and placement is their main issue when dancing.

i 100% agree with putting momo at number 1. while she does get a lot of recognition and praise for her dancing abilities, a lot of k-pop fans still underestimate her dancing abilities. she's definitely not an average dancer and she continues to prove that every time she goes on stage. this is simply my opinion, but she's the best dancer of the 3rd gen (and the 4th gen so far), and she's amongst some of the best dancers in k-pop. i could go on for paragraphs about how almost every aspect of her dancing is impressively close to perfect, but that would be extreme so i'll just say that her skill, talent, and technique is mind-blowing. she obviously puts a lot of effort into her dancing, but still manages to make it look so easy. her execution of almost every move is so amazing that it's hard to believe that she wasn't born with these skills. again, this is all just my opinion. i understand if anyone disagrees, because seulgi and lisa are both very talented, hardworking, and skillful dancers; it's not just momo who has talent. none of them are above each other, the effort all of them put into their dancing is incredibly impressive and they deserve all the recognition and praise they get. in conclusion, seulgi, momo, and lisa are 3 very talented women who have put an incredible amount of effort into their dancing. all 3 of them have inspired me to get back into dancing, i look up to them a lot and they never fail to amaze every time they dance.

I enjoyed this video so much! Thank you for taking the time and the effort to make this, i'm sure it wasn't easy :) It's really refreshing to see a very detailed dance analysis/ranking for female idols that isn't based in open style. The new trend of kpop dance youtube to rank gg members by open style never made much sense to me, although I find it interesting I felt like it ignored so many aspects of what kpop idol dancing is. But what do I know I'm not a professional dancer lol. I loved your explanation of Karina's dancing, personally I find her to be such an interesting dancer and felt like she dances in such a dimensional way and even though I could see that she lacked in some aspects I really disliked the whole "Karina is a terrible dancer" narrative that spread so quickly. Your comments about her cover of Naughty vs Ryujin's was fascinating! Also as someone who's a fan of Irene and greatly enjoys her dancing it was nice to not have to watch someone rip her to shreds lol, I love how detailed and elegant she is, she really makes dances look so "pretty" which I think suits Red Velvet's music so well. For future videos I was wondering if you could include something like a red asterisk to signal who youre talking about when you show dance videos? For example with some of the pre-debut dance videos for Blackpink I had a hard time telling who's who since the lighting isn't the best. Also some people might not be familiar with every group well enough to know all the members? Nonetheless thank you again for such a detailed and interesting video :) I'm so excited to see what other videos you'll make!!

And thank you for ranking *Jennie* correctly and not calling her a bad dancer like most kpop stans just because she lacks consistency and energy somtimes. What a thorough and considerable analysis you made! Thank you very much for the video it was such a pleasure to watch! I’m just happy that I found you smh and now I am gonna watch all of your videos ahahaha You’re so cool and I love how you prove your point with ✨arguments✨ that really are ones and not just thoughts like “she danced better because I like her more 🤡” I think my favourite kpop gg dancer is Rujin (I never get tired of watching her fancams!) and I was so happy seeing her so high in your ranking cause honestly people tend to put her something in the middle for her lacking groove, so at the beginning of this video I was like “k, my girl very unlikely makes it” 😅 and I was so surprised! Agree with you that popping/animation is very her thing and hope we see more of these in the future! I also love Jihyo’s dancing (very eye-catching and always fun to watch), she’s such an inspiration! Just admire her and what she’s been through ❤️‍🩹 The girls at the top 3 are just monsters of k-pop dancing and I couldn’t say more 😂

people overlook ryujin cause jyp didn’t give her the main dancer position so im glad that non biased dancers overlook that arbitrary position & appreciate her worth. a looot of people notice her/prefer her dance when watching itzy performances. she’s in charge for most dance breaks & deservingly so! she really knows how to deliver them. but kpop stans limit themselves to reading “main dancer” position on kprofiles & tend to not rank her in dance rankings. which brings me to my next point - it’s interesting that “main dancer” title was shown as arbitrary like a lot of us think - in the way you explained in details why mina, twice main dancer is ranked so low - under twice members with no dance positions even. it’s always surprising to me why jihyo wasn’t given a dance position. also this video has also made me a fan of lisa & momo’s dance styles so thank you for that!

I think the lack of strength is a persistent problem and frustrating thing about the SM girls. It seems with each debut, more strength/control/power is required but that isn't prioritised. If all of them just had a bit more muscle there'd be much improvement across the board.
@ulamme
@ulamme Жыл бұрын
yeah, i agree. i do think that the lack of muscle is intentional though, because female idols are scared of looking ‘bulky’ on camera for fear of cyberbullying.

I came here for the ranking, but wow... I'm shocked at how much I've learned. I used to always want to dance, but I couldn't afford it. Ever since then, I've kind of lived vicariously through kpop, watching choreos and fancams. I've heard a lot of different terms; lines, flow, groove, dynamics etc. And although I can kind of understand what those terms mean, seeing them here was probably the most effective and most insightful way I've actually been able to visualize what those terms actually look like. Especially the one example about Seulgi and the comparison to Yoonyoung. Great video!

it seems that for female idols, they prefer sacrificing strength/having a good core to being thin and lean (and in east asia, being thin is a sign of health without much regard for muscle mass). of course this is not their fault, its an industry requirement and ideal but i think if physique was less of an importance in the kpop industry, many of these idol dancers' weaknesses could be lessened or even eliminated. loved ur analysis by the way!

Individually they don't seem terrible dancers, but unfortunately their weaknesses are the ones that shine through in their performances and that's what makes them look messy and inconsistent. The itzy girlies are all incredible and I agree about not ranking them against each other since they all have very different styles and place importance on different things. For Yeji its in power and dynamics, for ryujin its her popping and control, for chaeryeong its balance and fluidity. I do disagree on Lia being second last. I think she is definitely higher than Joy, if for nothing else than for being able to perform itzys choreos to that standard.

I'm hypermobile so I feel like I can say something about dayun,force is possible you just need to train by strengthening the muscles but for that you need to lift weights. Not being able to control my body was one of the worst symptom of my hypermobility but it's getting better whith weight training. Even if you have something working against you with time and hard work it's always possible to be better.

Jihyo and Wendy deserve this all. I haven’t seen many people talk about how good Wendy had become recently, you could easily mistake her for center these days. She’s clearly always having fun and has improved so much from the injury. Both Wendy and Jihyo are insane to have as role models, and they’re both mine. Jihyo has worked SO hard for this and jyp still keeps her back during dance breaks and doesn’t let her showcase her dance as much (like now, during solo world tour stages). Crown was such a gift. Her solo debut better be exactly what we expect from her and what she expects herself, insane choreo and insane vocals (and even rap, she’s pretty nice at it).

I think this is an amazing analysis! The only thing I would add is that Joy also deals with the bending to match the other members height issue like Tzuyu. Also that Irene does have inconsistent isolation, but she is fairly consistent with her neck isolations. Even in the monster clip used to show her lack of definition, she’s better than most of the professionals behind her with her neck isolations.

It’s like roller coaster that is going up to the highest point and you are all excited for the drop but then it just go backwards!!!
