The majestic ever so beautiful owl every night I get the pleasure of hearing them and have followed the sounds they stop making the sounds as soon as I reach the tree they're in always.
Owls nested in my orchard. Now they have babies. Near sunset I can hear them, so I walk out and search in the trees. They camouflage so well, but sometimes I find them, one, I assume momma owl and 2 babies. They aren’t terriefied of me at all, I try not to disturb them, I always respect wildlife, but what a magnificent sight. They just stare at me, unperturbed. Really blessed to share the planet with these guys.

I had a couple build a nest in my yard it's no joke about them being the best pest control system! In 3-4 months not one snake, lizard,frog was left in my yard. I believe they took out the possums too. I wonder what needs to be done to encourage them to visit regularly.
@SCRAPSTrash Жыл бұрын
Research owl species in your area, choose a species and build a nesting box during the right time of year. Pray you get owls to nest and not squirrels 🤣
@AngelCnderDreamer Жыл бұрын
Owls don't make nests like the video mentions, they take nests or use things to nest in. The only reason a owl would pick up things is to smooth out the nest and make sure the eggs are secure enough.
@FyoCoutch1872 жыл бұрын
Some owls do use the same nest idk why he said that. There's legit footage on robert fuller's channel of a female owl who has had many broods over the past 5 years and she always nests in the one spot unless it gets taken which never happens. Also other barn owls on his channel do the same thing. The tawny owls also do this

In your segment on Barn Owls, you have a Barred Owl in a tree hooting. These are 2 totally different species not to be confused with each other (I work at a raptor center and I'm well educated on birds of prey). Barn Owls belong to the Tytonidae family while Barred Owls belong to the Strigidae family. Also, Barn Owls don't hoot, they hiss (it sounds like static electricity 😂) and they scream like a Banshee which can be an eerie sound to many. I'm only pointing out your error so others aren't misinformed.
@lonekirin9052 жыл бұрын
In spanish we call the Strigidae, mostly horned species of owls, Búhos while with the Tytonidae Lechuza. They both mean owl in english but it helps us more differentiate the two

1:39 "Owls have around 14 vertebrates in their neck." OUCH. Get your facts straight. Owls *are* vertebrates! The word you should have used is vertebrae, the plural of vertebra. A vertebrate is defined as: an animal of a large group distinguished by the possession of a backbone or spinal column, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fishes.

I couldn’t tell what it was so I pat his/her feathers on the chest and he/she didn’t move so I left it there and the next morning he/she had left.. I felt honored that the owl stopped by to rest . Didnt even realize it was an owl until i opened the front door to let my cat outside. But after seeing how large this owl was I could not let my cat outside that night. Even though my cat was a badass and ive seen him pick fights and win fights with racoons and large dogs. I didnt want to risk him getting serious injured by that owls talons.

Species that are NOT native are legal to keep as pets in many states. They are difficult to keep. Examples: illegal as pets Barn Owls, Great Horned Owls and Snowy Owls. May be legal : Eurasian Eagle Owls, Spectacled Owls and Tawny Owls . Read the letter of the law carefully down to your local level.

I found a baby owl at the bottom of a big cliff that had many holes and many owl nests in the holes. it was very early in the morning when i found it so i decided to take it in and protect it from the day animals and so i did. Fed it minced meat and gave it water and then at night i climbed as high as i could on that cliff until i made it to the first hole/nest i could get to and put the baby at its doorway. One owl came out of it and took the baby in like it was its own baby but i am certain it wasn't. It pulled it in like in slow motion by hugging it with its wings. I will never forget the insane grip of the claws of that baby bird as it was grasping my finger! I hope you enjoyed reading this experience, owl lovers! 💞

You may not see nor hear me as I swoop overhead. Nothing escapes my eyes. You may think you have not been spotted. My instincts control the need to subdue you to the very end. You will scamper about your business, when suddenly, all goes black, and quietness falls upon you like never before. I cannot promise you the pain you will feel ends quickly, as your now racing heart pumps furiously. Your life flashes before you. Will it stop before I start to consume you? I don't know. But you can be assured it is "I" who has claimed you! ....... NIGHTOWL 1963 Other facts not mentioned: 1): Most Owls are far sighted and do not see well up close. Once an Owl captures its prey, it relies on whisker like feathers in its legs to confirm it indeed has its prize. 2): Some species of Owls pluck the feathers of bird prey before feeding their Owletts because they are not digestible. 3): An Owl mother will attempt to feed the runt first when prey is plentiful, but a stronger and older sibling will do strongarm robbery and the parent will not intervein. Survival of the fittest. 4): If an Owlett accidently falls from the nest or a branch to the ground, it is almost certainly doomed unless it can climb back into the tree. Owls are my number one favorite raptor. I have several families that live in the wood behind my house. I often watch them through my binoculars and record their calls when I can. I am NOT an expert, but I do have a vast knowledge of them.
@gemslight772 жыл бұрын

@@gemslight77 Unfortunately, no. I am not much of a reader, so I learn most things about Owls from films like National Geographic, Wild Discovery, and other nature programs. As much as Owls are studied, I think there is more to learn about them. There are a few things I learned on a more personal level from observation. As mentioned before, Owls are "MY" number favorite Bird of Prey. Have a good day.
