@@Chopper140It depends on what level of murder (1, 2, involuntary), the relationship to the victim, the motive: a Felony Murder (committed during the commission of another felony, like robbery) vs. a bar brawl, are 2 very different things, and 2 different types of perpetrator. We are all capable of murder under the right set of circumstances.

Me too, to have mercy and forgiveness like that… just reminded me of God’s love. Anyone can be nice to a nice person, but to be nice to a person that isnt… man….And the pain you can see in that man’s eyes. I’m happy to see a human be so utterly kind and forgiving and yet im so upset to see that such a kind and loving man had his son’s life taken so unnecessarily like that. It truly shows how strong of a person he truly is. The guy who killed his son will never forget that and i’m sure that powerful act of forgiveness and kindness from that man changed his life when he went behind bars.

I don't understand how you can forgive someone for that. Even if he was "misguided by the devil" he still CHOSE to k!££ the man's son. That doesn't deserve forgiveness to me. I'm not bashing his religion here and I am religious (different religion but regardless) it is still a person's CHOICE whether they do something virtuous or criminal.

People who commit these horrendous crimes and acts of violence and assault hurt and affect the victim(s) family and friends as well as their own. There’s so much loss, and while I don’t condone getting mad/emotional at the family of the victim, I think that there’s just so much loss all around, emotions are visceral, raw, charged. Yes, one mother will still get to see her child even if it’s through plexiglass or their child in shackles, but it’s not at all the way another good mother/parent/caretaker envisions their future encounters and to also know that their kid committed such atrocious acts, is a murderer, and destroyed many lives because of their heartbreaking and callous decisions. A mother is still a mother, and no mom wants to ever have to experience such loss and devastation that burying their child brings, no parent should ever have to have their child die before them. No mother/father/caretaker should have to experience their child viciously stealing the life of another mothers child also. That knowledge is soul shattering. I’m not talking about deadbeat parents either.

People would do themselves a big favor by realizing that there is a much larger number of psychopaths beating, robbing and killing people to get what they want, walking amongst us than is commonly accepted. "Mental illness" is an issue that rides alongside of psychopathy, but being mentally ill is separate from being a psychopath (unless someone is both). The difference that separates them is that being a psychopath is an issue of being evil. People can be born a psychopath, which explains how the family of all decent people except one can come about. Or they can develop into a psychopath from being mistreated while young, or even later. It is where the seed of evil that is in all of us is "encouraged to sprout and grow."

But you people who judge them all the same lack wisdom and it's the rapist and child molesters you people keep letting out, like that can be better rehabilitated then a young kid or man that was caught up in the street life or gangs. Whether we accept it or not our system will never want to stop crime it's how they live and pay for their fancy lives and send their children to college. Would you want to stop selling shoes if you owned a shoe store? Da, why you think so many guns are in the hands of teenagers? If they really wanted to stop crime and shootings they would ban all guns accept for law enforcement or military, but no hunting trips and a constitutional right means more then human lives. I would suggest reading more into how insanity pleas work and what happens to the defendants who are charged as incompetent due to insanity. It is definitely not a get out of jail free card, though many people mistakenly believe it is. If you are deemed incompetent due to insanity you are committed to an institution that, in many ways, *_will_* be worse than prison. The majority of the time, people who are deemed incompetent due to insanity end up spending longer in an institution for the criminally insane than they would have in prison.
