@@FactsVerseI saw your inquire about most appealing episodes. My gosh there are so many but a few would be “Thank you notes “ Snow Day” Robert’s 2 part wedding, just among a few. I seem to gravitate more to the later years, I loved Amy being part of the show on a regular basis. Oh and how can I forget the 2 part episodes of Frank & Marie’s brief move “ Not so fast” epic!

I met Jean Staplelton in the early '80s at the grocery store where I worked. It was located next to the theater. At the time, I worked at the front desk. This lady came up and asked for a pack of Kool Menthols. What came out of my mouth was, OMG, it's Edith Bunker! She was so nice and gracious and laughed it off. I apologized but she kept saying it's not necessary. Very nice lady.

A great bit of triva is the fact that in 1971, Doris Roberts guest starred in an episode of All in the Family called Edith's Night Out. It's one of my favorites of the series, so it was wonderful to see them working together again on Everybody Loves Raymond. Two great actors who's body's of work were outstanding.

It was a terrific ensemble and there wasn’t one weak performance. In particular I loved the episodes featuring Katherine Helmand and Robert Culp as Debra’s parents; the one where her parents have separated and her father brings a date to a family dinner, and the date is old enough to be his mother! Too, too funny! I have always been a fan of Patricia Heaton’s. She was a great foil for clueless Raymond, and did a terrific job in a very different role as the mom in one of my fave sitcoms The Middle. The only death of the various performers that I consider to be tragic is the heartbreaking death of young Sawyer Sweeten. I can’t imagine the pain he was in to take his own life. May he finally be resting in peace. 🙏💙

I thought all the truly funny comedies had vanished sometime after the 70s. I never saw EL Raymond while in prime time, but since reruns, I’ve seen every episode several times, and still enjoy most of them. Each character contributed something unique to the show. Ray and Deborah were hilarious together, as were Ray and Marie, Frank and Marie, Robert and Marie, Deborah and Marie. I think Marie was the glue that held the show together so well. Everybody has known someone like her, and both loved and hated them. There would have been no show without her, and she indeed brought her character to life. But all of them were excellent at portraying their individual characters. I’ll give a nod to the veteran actors who played the in-laws. They all were great, added additional storylines to the series. The casting in this show was superb, even those who had bit parts. Remember when the two nuns stopped by to pick up Marie’s sculpture in the living room? Both women were great, but the shortest one was off the charts hilarious.

If you remember they had a running joke on the show that one of the boys had gay tendencies. I believe it was Jeffrey. That haunted Sawyer Sweeten into adulthood and he was made fun of for it. Idk if that contributed to his ending his own life but you never know what can affect a kid. Having recently lost a close friend to suicide I can only imagine what his poor family went through. Not to mention his identical twin brother. I also am a mom of twins. Just devastating what happened to him.

I think the older brother, Robert, got the “Short end of the stick”. He must have been 6’6” & with that deep voice (only while playing the older brother) was long-suffering & put up w/a bunch of crap. He did it well.

Loved Doris Roberts, she had guess appearance on Barney Miller and a host of series in the 60s. Loved Peter Boyle in Young Frankenstein.

Watching the reruns in surprise. The pilot played twice this past week and the twins names were changed apparently. Life in this family is hard to get your head around with all the chaos but in the end where debra has burned the kids french toast and in walks everyone else and marie sets out fruit and atarts making pancakes as the whole cast gathers ariund that kitchen table well this is what families are supposed to be . Too bad that very kitchen table has lost its importance in todays world.

Actually, Raymond annoyed me. Even tho the show was named for him, he was my least favorite character. No one mentions the long suffering Debra.

Sorry, I can't resist. Last one, I promise. Jean Stapleton died in her 90s! I guess this is just another example of an utterly tragic death, right? Doctors have told me that I am going to die soon, due to heart and kidney problems. I'm only 54 years old. This is utterly tragic for me. KMF

@@61fritz06Thanks, that is very kind of you. It's so strange, because I have been in absolutely great health my whole life; never any illnesses, never a flu or a cold. I have never seen a doctor in my entire adult life. Before getting this news, the last time that I visited a doctor, was my pediatrician, as a child. I don't know what to do with Dexter and Oscar, my two cats. KMF

Doris was also in 2 tv movies as Mrs Miracle. She helped single dads deal with their children! I love watching her in that role. She played an angel who is sent to the homes of single dads and their unrully boys. She had them so well behaved it was like a miracle! At the end of each movie she tells the children she has to go bc there are other children who need her! Then she walks away and disappears. They are great movies!

Ok, I can't resist; there's one more. Fred Willard died at age 86; Katherine Helmund died at age 89! "UTTERLY TRAGIC"??? I THINK NOT. Also, Bob Culpic died in his 70s. Not tragic either. Screw Tim Blane and the evil Internet. KMF
