*Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.* Matthew 16 I implore people to re-read the gospels - life is not just about our drop in the bucket time in this present life. It will be over quickly at any time and all our "success" here will be in vain.

but i heard she wasnt really a nice person!!!!
@LJ-ht4zs2 жыл бұрын
@@robertosso5210 When Lucy had to take over the shows and the Desilu Studio - she had to put on the different hats. Before the divorce, she said the Cuban did it all. As a woman at that time, when she was tough & some called her names - if she were a man, they would have said he was strong. Basically all the stars who knew her and appeared on her shows - thought she was a wonderful person. That is, except for Richard Burton, Tallulah Bankhead and Joan Crawford. All were drinking on set and forgetting their lines and she was having none of it. BTW all were alcoholics esp. Burton who wrote in his bio how much he didn't like or hated her. He was such a drunk that in his last films he had to be filmed either sitting or laying down - could not stand due to his drunkeness. He died at 58 due alcoholism.
@robertosso52102 жыл бұрын
@@LJ-ht4zs there was a story that was said that when lucy had traveled somewhere on a flight she traveled with an associate of hers. and one time a flight attendant asked lucy something and lucy didnt look at her and ignored her and her associate told the flight attendant that ms ball doesnt speak with the help!
@LJ-ht4zs2 жыл бұрын
@@robertosso5210 Only heard that from people like Joan Crawford and Burton, both alcoholics and had trouble remembering their lines which created a problem. Most of her cast members and writers she knew from the 1940's. People were very loyal to her and she to them. Lucy worked hard and could be intense, but the only people who complained about her severely like Burton (who was a serious alcoholic and died age 58 complications due to alcoholism ) In his last films he had to be sitting down or lying down, could not stand due to his drinking. Of course, with Lucy totally unacceptable to her. I never once heard Lucille Ball defame another actor or any one from her family - except once on an interview with Barbara Walters said Desi was a loser, which she clarified that with all his many gifts he ended up destroying them - and he did - which caused him ill health, loss of possibilities and loss of money from gambling. She was always generously giving him credit for his many gifts and abilities but was sad that he wrecked havoc losing his gifts because of the addictions. Her many friends, like Betty White, Carol Burnette, Vivian Vance, Bob Hope, Gale Gordon - she knew them for decades and really cared for her as she did them. A delightful book, Laughing with Lucy, written by Madelyn Pugh and Robert Carroll Jr knew her from radio days and wrote for most of her tv work. gives a wonderful realistic portrait of Lucille Ball.

That show was so nice and clean for the whole family to watch. They saw no need to use foul language or nudity or any sleaze to get an audience. The laughter from the audience was real and is used as canned laughter to make other sitcoms seem funny when they may not be funny at all.

The perfect show, the perfect cast. I think it’s safe to say “I Love Lucy” will be shown somewhere on television forever. Of course everyone loves the “Fab Four”, but out of the supporting cast, I’ve always loved Doris Singleton. When Lucy says Betty’s new furniture looks like “a bad dream you’d have after eating too much Chinese food”, you can’t help laughing and feeling sorry for her all at the same time. A few years ago my husband gave me the Christmas present I’ve always wanted. An 8x10 glossy of Lucille Ball, autographed of course. It’s from the 40’s, she’s wearing an evening gown with a beautiful fur coat. It hangs in our living room.

It is so sad that all the cast is gone now. ( except for little Ricky) I believe that back in those days, people were not so much into keeping healthy. Smoking was socially accepted. My uncle Keith Thibodeaux is the only surviving member of I Love Lucy! I’ve always known him as my uncle Keith. He’s in great health and living in Madison, Mississippi with his wife of 40+ years, my mom’s oldest sister Kathy, who is a phenomenal ballerina and they both run Ballet Magnificat! in Jackson, Mississippi. My uncle Keith is still very good friends with and still keeps in touch with Desi and Lucie Jr!

I Love Lucy is the funniest comedy there is. I don't care how much I watch Mt DVDs, I still laugh.

I remember little Ricky when he was in the singing group of "David and the Giants"! They came to our school in Indiana and sang Christian songs for us. I was suprised to know that one of the singers was Little Ricky.

In my younger days, Lucy was my favorite and in my older days (now) my pick is Fred. He was very talented. He also had an alcohol problem but never drank while filming. You can see his hands shake in many of the old reruns. This is why he always had his hands in his pockets most of the time.

I considered the key figures, to be The Fabulous Four, Lucy, Desi, Vivian, and Wm Frawley. But my favorite was Lucille Ball - loved all her tv shows, and her movies both from the 1940's thru the 1968 and even Mame.

I used to binge I Love Lucy at my grandma's house whenever it aired and then play Xbox as a kid lmao.

@@FactsVerse I’ve seen your other clips and all are interesting. I like informative clips about the background of the actors and the history of the shows. I Love Lucy, Andy Griffith, Threes Company, Different Strokes, All in the Family, 21 Jump Street (the original from the early 90’s), ER, MASH, Matlock, Inthe Heat of the Night. Basically the shows that were comedies with some humanity and kindness. You are great, keep up the good work.
