Faculty of Engineering PMT Team Gearing Up for Formula SAE International Competition 2024

Putra Motorsport Team (PMT) from the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (KMP) at the Faculty of Engineering, UPM, has successfully developed the UPM Racing Car for the 2024 Japan International Formula SAE Competition in September 2024. PMT, comprising students from the field of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, is a specialized team established at UPM to conduct motor sports activities. PMT serves as the flagship team for the Faculty of Engineering UPM, specializing in automotive engineering. The PMT team has successfully participated in various motor sports activities both domestically and internationally.
During the initial evaluation, more than 20 countries with over 100 racing cars participated in the competition. However, only a few managed to pass through the four (4) initial screening stages to qualify for the prestigious international competition. UPM is among those that met and exceeded the stringent participation criteria and is the sole candidate from Malaysia and Southeast Asia eligible to compete in this elite arena.
