unfortunately i lost 4 of sister cats which were about 5 months old the first one stop eating food and died after 3 days and then 2nd cat stop eating food and died same way due to dehydration the next day third cat died because of dehydration she was taken to hospital as well injected normal saline and dexamethasone but she died when i get home then the fourth cat death were very tragic and painful she was getting weaker that day afternoon i feed her medication for vommiting rehydration ors and digestion through needle at night time and start heating in my room but when i get up at 3 am she was lying under bed and put in bed and she died at 4 30 am she was the strongest of all 4 cats i cry alot in the mid of the night because i lost all my four cat sister because of vommiting and refusing to eat there is no proper vet in pakistan

We rushed to the emergency vet, but it was too late. I still can’t believe what had happened. I wish I could have saved her. Mine just died today. Not even a good 2 hours passed. And I couldn't even be there for her last moments because I had school. My mom had to tell me over the phone. This one's gonna hurt for a while.

Fading kitten protocol means you keep the kitten warm (in a blanket burrito, ears covered on a heatpad) AND give the dextrose/sugar water/karo syrup/honey. It's not OR. Both at the same time are equally important. I'm sure you know this by now, it's for other's who might not. The outcome could be either way, we never know unless we try. And for the ones who are talking about the vets. What do you think vet clinic does with a kitten like that? I've been a vet tech in a big ER clinic and we couldn't do anything else than euthanasia. And euthanasia with these little ones is not what you would imagine as you cannot locate the vein. Neonates have way more chances at home as most vets don't know anything about them and in vet clinics nobody has resources to take care of a single patient like that.

@@neiuke1149 very well said and yes we do in the years since making this vlog. We have heard directly from many vets who just wont try due to cost to the owner will still very poor prognosis in a lot of cases. Ultimately, as we have learned, kittens in this state usually have underlying health problems 🙏🏻 Sometimes saving them is not always in their best interest either. The balance of life or death is such a delicate road to navigate, but when needed we still try our best.

Our kitten just passed away few hours ago due this, his breathing looked exactly like Rosalita’s. He was just 2 weeks old and not putting on any weight, vet told us he wasn’t absorbing nutrients due his already compromised immune system due lack of maternal care. We’re broken hearted. I just had him for 1 week and I can’t stop crying…. he was doing so well the day before

Oh, thank you for the video. I have never heard of this Fading Kitten business. I took in a homeless mama and she had 6 babies. All lived, thank the Lord! Now I have 6 kittens- 4 from one homeless mother I had been feeding and 2 from a homeless I had been feeding since SHE was weaned. Both mothers brought these babies to my patio. I believe they did so bc they trusted me. I also believe neither was able to feed her babies. Neither looked like they were nursing and I wasn't even sure they'd had kittens until the first mother brought her babies one at a time and then collapsed. No one I called had any room for them or any words of advice. My son is helping me -A LOT- with these little angels. We think the first four are ready to go to a home. I just hope they make it and we find them loving owners. The other 2 are still very small and we'll watch for this problem. I'm very happy to know what to do if we should see these symptoms❣

I lost my kitten Pine this way.. I didn’t know what was going on and felt like crap.. After doing research I found out he passed due to Fading Kitten syndrome.. I tried calling the vet while he was struggling to breathe and they told me they’re sorry.. Basically meaning that they couldn’t do anything.. I had to sit in my car hearing my baby’s last breath’s. Hubby found a kitten on our roof this past Sunday. Next to a dead sibling. They both were still attached to sack and cord. It is Tuesday afternoon now and just got done feeding her,helping her burp and pee and a bit of cuddling, back into her box and heating pad. I didn't know newborn kittens purred! She purrs a lot.

The very best of luck with your new baby 🙏🏻 I recommend contacting a local rescue group to try and locate / trap momma cat, she might have more kittens or be in a bad way if a baby has died, and she has abandoned another ❤️‍🩹

A stray momma cat came to our home and gave birth to 3 kitties. They were joyful and playful. I especially liked one of them, white with 2 black stripes on her head. Once momma cat abandoned her and moved somewhere else with 2 of her kitties. From that day that kitty didnt go near the mother cat. She stopped drinking momma cats milk. And I tried feeding her cows milk, which I didnt know was harmful. She had diarrhoea and didnt drink the mothers milk even when I brought her near. Today she suffered FKS. The mother cat didnt bother looking at the kitten. When I brought the kitten near to her the kitten tried to get away from the mother. And I kept the kitten inside a bucket and blanket. I couldnt get my parents to let me take her to the vet. And 1 hr ago she passed away. Its one of the hardest hit I have felt

Next time that happens hon please find a shelter or some one you know that knows how to help it I know you probably wanted to help it on your own but some times experienced people if you know any is the best option then once the kitten gets better and past the weening stage then you could possibly take them home but I'm glad that you have atleast did some research and figured out your mistakes and that's ok it's better than not trying at all you did what you could ...it's very sad when you have a big heart when you lose a baby kitty and I'm sorry you had to experience that ... Good for you for researching how to care for babies incase of the next one...... You'll have a better chance of helping the poor dears

We (me and my sister) lost a kitty yesterday morning. The day before we rushed him to the vet. Vet seemed to think he was stable acted like we were drama queens. Sent him home to suffer. 😢 I think he would have made it if the vet had kept him and put him on oxygen and better knowledgeable care than what we could give. Vet uncaring and greedy. We paid $300 for emergency visit and xray. Only for the kitten to die the next morning. We tried CPR but to no avail. We cried and cried. I feel so guilty because I believed the Vet that he was gonna be okay.

1 out of our 4 kittens died today. I am so heartbroken. I only knew about this fading kitten syndrome today when i researched the symptoms of my kitten. Everything was fine at first and then suddenly she was unresponsive. not drinking, no energy and no reaction whenever i lift her. however she was breathing. I thought it was normal until I saw your vid and i realized she was also gasping for air. I tried to feed her milk, her tongue was moving but not swallowing the milk. I let her rest for a while and when I came back, she was stone cold :((( I gave her a little burial and prayed for her soul. I was not expecting that she out of the rest will pass away first because she was so healthy. Now I'm doing my best to assist the rest of the kittens. Looks like i will need to bottle feed them because their mother is still young and seems like she's not nursing the kittens anymore. It's been 2 weeks now but only one opened its eye and the two seems to be underweight. and they all have colds and congested nose. one has eye discharge. Thank you for your video. I learned a lot. will do my best to let the rest of the kittens live their best life.

My baby Basil has a lot of these symptoms. She doesn’t gasp but she is EXTREMELY lethargic. I’m doing my best. I got her on Thursday and went to an emergency vet. Doing everything they told me to do and I just feel so hopeless. I’m bawling my eyes out on the couch. I have to syringe feed her but she’s never been cold to the touch. She just won’t move and sleeps all the time. The vet checked her sugar and it was good, so was all of her blood work and heart and lungs. She just doesn’t seem healthy. @@Sakisuhail do the caro syrup on her gums EVERY 3 minutes. If she’s really bad fo for a minute and a half or 2 minutes and you MUST do it consistently on the minute. Keep her very very warm. This does not always work but it definitely won’t if you don’t try

My cats are 2 weeks old too and one of them started fading all of a sudden Today and became unresponsive and when my mom was just trying to wake it up and suddenly he stopped moving completely and we thought he died and we quickly started shaking him around and he just started moving really little and looked very weak and then I quickly went to google and then found about the sugar water and then my mom just mixed some sugar with some milk and he got a lot better but not completely cured . Unfortunately, my kitten died approximately 8 hours later despite my desperate attempts to keep it alive. At first the sugar trick worked but I suppose my poor kitten was too fragile .I hope your little one remains healthy and strong, just hang in there and it will get better. 🙏🙏

One thing we’ve learnt over the years since making this video is that if you find a single kitten in a desperate state and abandoned, the mum cat has usually decided she cannot nurse it and no longer wants it near ‘healthy’ kittens so they remove them 😢 and at this stage so few can be saved 🙏🏻 it’s absolutely heartbreaking 💔 Well done though for trying, its not easy losing them when you’ve tried so desperately hard to give them life 🙏🏻

From my knowledge as a voluntary paramedic I suggest to put the sugar water not on but under the tongue - this might be another measure to keep the kitten from swallowing/aspirating and (similarly to how it is with humans) the sugar might be absorbed into the blood faster. It's heartbreaking to see Rosalita gasping this way - I think it's called Biot breathing and an indication of some issues with her central nerve system. Might be due to the increase of the glaucoma in the eye which can be seen clearly. Not knowing what exactly is going on here, I actually would have rushed to the vet instead of filming the kitten and reading about that Fading Kitten syndrome. Watching the previous videos on Rosalita, I already got very surprised to hear that such a little kitten gets some pain medicine. When it comes to human infants, it requires quite some skill to choose the dose right. I therefore expect it to be even more difficult for cats and, consequently, for kittens. If Rosalita was a human I would have wanted to know about her blood gases or at least her blood oxygen level. Greetings from Germany, I came here via Kitten Lady. :) P.S.: I agree there's no use rushing to the vet if all that's required is just some sugar and warmth. However, I still assume the gasping is not related to her hypothermia and hypoglycaemia but to the glaucoma and maybe (maybe!) the painkillers. When nursing a gasping kitten next time, please make sure that she cannot vanish under the towels as her breathing is no longer regulated by her blood oxygen and blood carbon dioxide levels.

Anni hello, at this stage we had been to the vets many times and luckily with my vet being a good friend as well she was also on the phone all of the time, thank you so much for your comment yes it was just heart breaking watching her fade 😔 as a volunteer fosterer I am afraid the knowledge that Kitten Lady Hannah has comes with time and we have only been doing this during the pandemic to help our local rescues, I can absolutely promise we have done all we can, but with the heartbreak of loss we are not sure we would ever do it again as it has been really really traumatic for us as a family 🙏🏻

Anni thank you, yes it has been tricky and we have done it all at our own cost, we have not relied on the limited resources of our rescue facilities we wanted to help in every single way which has been very difficult, especially when the end result has not been good 🙏🏻 but we have 5 rehomed already and doing WONDERFUL and 7 still here receiving treatment before going on to their forever families 🙏🏻

This video is super Informational, I fostered two baby kittens they were all Healthy full of energy and I notice one of their genital area swelled up and I was concerned and I didn’t realize she was declining but I thinking it was because of her private area was causing her pain I took her in and they told me she is declining I’m like WHAT she was fine yesterday and then she told me they can send her home with some meds but it’s a chance she could pass in my care and they wanted to send her to cat heaven I broke down and cried I feel so bad my baby I been up all night thinking about her and what I could have done I miss my baby so much I ordered her so much stuff. Exactly the problem I was facing last year.. I have seen 8 cases of fks in my own house and i know all that u feel....the most difficult part is to see them gasping and I can't even image all the pain and discomfort they go through. After a year I am looking at ways just to stop this terrific illness from controlling the innocent and fragile kitten's system only if I happen to get face to face with it again...I am just wondering if Rosilita lived?

We went on to have an autopsy, not of Rosalita but a whole litter of 5 that came in with their mum as strapping healthy 3 week old kittens, then over a 24 hours period they all died! I was crushed! It turns out that they had contracted Chlamydia while passing through the birth canal, it’s initially untraceable, but it affects the breathing very quickly, turning into pneumonia and then 99% of the time death 😢 only very very few babies survive it 🙏🏻 thank you for trying

man i hate fading kitten syndrome. it is the worst thing to experience when caring for kittens. i only been able to to save one kitten from it and even that poor kitten didnt last long. it breaks my heart everytime it happens because i'll start wondering what i could have done better or what if i saw the signs earlier? i wondered did i even try to save them? i feel like i tried but did i try hard enough? its something that always brothers me when raising kittens. i love raising them and watching them grow but again that syndrome. i just wish there of a actual cure for it and it wasnt just fighting until you get the sign if they made it or not. but there is one thing i know and thats to give them the best life possible even if they are here for a short time and i like to think about the babies i did save and raised into amazing cats. that and i aleast tried and that i was able to give those kittens and their mom and proper life and that i tried.

This video is a few years old now and due to my personal circumstances changing I no longer do kitten rescue, which is incredibly upsetting because I know I did make a difference, but to do it right it costs THOUSANDS of pounds per litter of sick babies 🙏🏻 I had a litter after this one that came in with the Queen and I thought all would be great 🤷‍♀️ an easy rescue because mum could look after them and when they came in they were hulking 3 week olds… Then over a 24 hour period ALL 5 died 😢 I was devastated. I genuinely didn’t understand why they had all faded away, so I took their little bodies to the vets to be autopsied just because my level of guilt in them dying was unbearable… They had Chlamydia passed on during birth from the Queen (this is one of the most common causes of FKS and is pretty much untreatable) it has caused breathing issues that lead to pneumonia and then death, there was literally NOTHING I could have done to save them 🙏🏻 Bless you as well for trying 💕

@@Dunkinarts I still have one of the litter sat right here at the side of me now 🙏🏻 Sam now called SamBear, even as a survivor he has 1 eye and a cleft palate. He was bottle fed for 9 months (3 months more than my actual child) and even now 4 years on he cannot chew and gets daily mush so he can swallow without choking 🙏🏻 Us cat mums are a different breed altogether 💕

I know, it nearly broke us 😢 in the end she passed away, we were able to revive her this time but then later on she had another seizure and passed away 😞 we tried EVERY THING but the poor little love was just too sick

Just a drop on the tongue but every 3 mins to keep the bloody sugar up to help fight off the hypoglycaemia 🙏🏻

@@mishzx1113 until they come around, it can take anywhere from 30 mins to a few hours and that is if their bodies will respond. Devastatingly with Rosalita our tiny kitten we were able to bring her around 2-3 times using the sugar water but she was SO weak she didn’t make it 😭 but we have used this method on kittens who have pulled through 🙏🏻

August 2020 … sorry Aurelia I'm so sorry Aurelia … it hurts me so much that we couldn't save you … I helped you into the world and resuscitated ... your mom Delia mourned you for a long time you were her first and quite a baby 😔🙏🏽. I know what to do, but I still need an incubator … what keeps the little ones nice and warm and where you can put medication in if necessary so that they can breathe it in ❤️🙏🏽

@@linkinparkfanforever2728 bless you 🙏🏻 so very sorry for your loss as well 😿 we couldn’t put Rosalita in an incubator due to the glaucoma on her eye (I cannot remember the exact reason why) but it was against the vets advice and just to keep her on a heat pad which we did. We were told due to the complex nature of her many health issues her best chance was to be kept with her litter, but it wasn’t to be and God had other plans that day 🙏🏻

I'm in a similar situation, I rescued 6 kittens (mom died), they were fine but I had to leave for 4 days as my dad died and had to leave the city for his funeral and left the kitties with someone and they didn't nurse them properly and 5 of them died 💔😔 now I came back and have the one that fought those rough days and she has been fine, she now has diarrhea and I've read it's very bad for kittens 3 week old to have diarrhea so I'm very worried😔

She had been at the vets many times and I also had the vet on the phone constantly 🙏🏻 she had a glaucoma which was pressing on her brain for a couple of days before this incident and it was a 50/50 whether she would stay in the vets or return to her siblings. Please read all the comments before posting on our channel. Of cause a vet was involved, we had one on speed dial, at this stage she had received daily vet care, sometimes twice daily but for fading kitten syndrome they treat the EXACT same way as in the video

The vet can do NOTHING about it! They will sometimes give a steroid shot but they will sometimes ask you if you would like for them to euthanize them so they don't suffer. If you don't know much about animals you probably shouldn't come and shame someone who is already suffering!!!! Shame on you for shaming someone who lost their kitten to something that can't be explained and happens oh so often!
