I watched a detailed documentary on Suno TV about the life of Faheem Commando, a notorious figure from Karachi. The program highlighted his life story, including how he, along with two of his brothers, met a tragic end. Faheem Commando was involved in terrorism, extortion, and targeted killings, allegedly under the banner of MQM. He was responsible for the deaths of nearly 100 police officers and engaged in acts of violence against corrupt law enforcement officials. Reflecting on the situation, I believe that around 80% of the blame lies with Faheem Commando himself, while 20% can be attributed to the police and, to some extent, our society. Faheem could have been reformed. The police, his community in Nazimabad, and even his neighbors-who are generally good people, as I personally know some of them-had opportunities to intervene and guide him. Unfortunately, no one made any real effort to correct his path. During that era, many individuals, driven by revenge and influenced by the toxic mindset propagated by leaders like Altaf Hussain, became complicit in such tragedies. The lack of accountability and collective negligence led Faheem to his ultimate downfall. The documentary, narrated by Naeem Sahab, was incredibly detailed and well-articulated. It provided me with deep insights into Faheem Commando’s life and actions. While I had only heard his name before, this program shed light on his story and the complex factors that shaped his life and eventual demise. Usman
