I would say it has to do with some earlier "refreshment", but the one time I've seen it in person, it was my quite sober niece who normally CAN be trusted with such duties. I think she was just overwhelmed by her kids and lost her concentration for a microsecond, which is all it takes. She was inconsolable about that happening to her Grandma's B-day cake.

@eukaryote-prime yeah, I grew up in the country, and my family has thousands of acres of land. Stuff like this never happened. If we saw a wild animal, we knew not to get near it and to seek shelter. There are bears, deer, and wild boar everywhere on our land. A wild boar will literally gouge you to death if you are in its way or it perceives you as a threat. These people have to be from the city.
