MTV, OMG!! you took me back with a time travel....late 80's......90's........I think your bag is super cute 😍.....love the colors and it screams "fun in the summer. I love Kipling bags; however, I only get them on sale. They are the perfect bag for any type of weather and work. You are right...... MTV probably should have teamed up with a Coach or LV. ....... To be honest, I think Kipling has become more well known in recent yearts (thanks to social media platforms ). I hope both companies find a way to expand their brands with younger audiences........... Fantastic share and very informative. 😍👜

I didn't know about this collab, babe! You know what, it excites me cos these two remind me of my teenage years. Blast from the past -- straight up year from the year 2000!😍 I wouldn't buy it now cos it really isn't my style but 15-year old me with her Nokia phone? She would be dying for this! 😅

I don't necessarily see it as a "fail" in general, but I do think it could have been marketed better to gain popularity. I think the reason that a lot of Kipling bags go on sale is specifically because no one buys them until they get discounted, I mean, who wouldn't want a bag at 40 - 50% off? That's just what I did, and I got the same bag as you, also at Macy's, for 40% plus another 25% with a coupon. I'm also going to save mine for Spring/Summer, and I also agree that Kipling can be a hit or miss in its appeal, but I've been a fan of it since I was a teenager and I'm in my early 30's now.

I saw the sale on Macy’s, it was priced at $45 😭😭 I should have waited lol. Regardless, it’s a fantastic bag overall. I’ll be sure to never buy Kipling at full price anymore hahaha. I did not know about this collaboration and I love both brands especially MTV! I'm Gen Y 😆😆😆 I won't deliberately go and buy one now, just cos I don't need any of these bags at the moment..

People who love kipling won't love MJ nor Coach because kipling is well known for its multitude of pockets. I was a big fan of kipling when younger but not obsessed anymore as I go for lesser known brands that are more unique, notwithstanding I so happen to buy 2 kipling bags a couple days ago after several years as I liked the colors. I didnt see the mtv ones anymore so perhaps they all got snapped up. I noticed that they now make lighter bags that the nylon is thinner on purpose and they got lazy and make rubbery or metal molded hard monkeys instead of iconic hand made furries. I think kipling has never had good choice collaborations tbh even the new Doraemon (gimme a break!) and Pantone (why???) as they try targeting younger age groups. Maybe should work on revamping their styles in special collections targeting certain age groups? As nylon is highly durable i don't think thinner material will have any adverse effect on longevity. Since you like colorful have you considered Cotopaxi?

Glad I wasn’t going crazy when I got mine. That’s sad they cutting cost on their items. But I agree with you on them rebranding. They really need too! I’ve never heard of Cotopaxi before. Hi! A new subbie based in Tokyo. I actually own a navy color nylon Kipling cross body bag. I bought this online a couple of years ago for travel. I use this bag when I travel both domestic and international, as it is very light, water repellent, has multiple pockets and fits, wallet, water bottle, phone, tissue paper, small umbrella, etc. and I like the small monkey stuffed animal charm, too. I recently brought my LV speedy-B-30 instead, but LV was not suitable for travel. (Just my opinion) Kipling is much better as it is lighter, and more care free. I found out about this brand because I had a friend who used to live in Belgium and she was carrying a Kipling bag and I thought the monkey charm was very original and cute. But, yes like you pointed out, my aunt and mom own Kipling bags. Lol 😅

Kipling really don't do well on marketing/advertising for the products at all. They have started to bring in some interesting designers, if you check out Victoria Tang's collab with them, it's beautiful. Emerald green exterior, fuchsia interior and the ombre straps are, chef's kiss in my opinion. Definitely worth checking it out! If they worked on their marketing, and bringing some designers to cater for youth, they would definitely be doing better. Also some of their monkey charms are more "sleek" rather than a chunky fuzzy monkey. If I saw this MTV collection, I would've hit it up for the nostalgia but it's also a cool collection. But I had no idea it existed until now. Sad. UPDATE: They had it on their website in the outlet tab, this bag you have, so I actually ordered it online. :) £40
