Failing at Tech Interviews

Did you fail that interview or did your interviewer fail you? Did you ever get rejected from a job interview and feel terrible about it? I mean, like really beat yourself up about it. I know I have. Well, sometimes there's more to the picture than you passing or failing. Sometimes the interviewers don't know what they're doing. I was told the technical interview round would cover different topics like system design, streaming data & data modeling. Yet only asks one Python & one SQL. Failed interview bc I had limited prep time (also lowkey burnt out).

Yes, every company uses a faang interview template, whether it is needed or not, because they do not know what they want and how to interview.

Raising my hand up here - I did more than 1,000 interviews for different roles, and I still sometimes fumble in these ways. This is something I wish everyone coming into an interview - especially people junior in their careers know. There are so many false negatives in interviewing due to interviewer failures, and in many companies one interviewer failing means the candidate won't get hired even if the other 3-4 interviewers interviewed well.

Been on both sides. I've made all five mistakes and have been interviewed by people who've made all five mistakes. Would be nice to know how to handle interviewers who made all five as an interviewee lol

So, you rejected an offer of a company you are a fan just because the interviewer was bad...when, if the company is big enough, you may never meet again... really ? you have no idea if you'd like the position ? Maybe if the interviewer would be your manager, otherwise, that just ONE person in the company...
