I'm playing around with some more of the Test Drive Unlimited Platinum mod, with some of the more extreme conversion available for the vehicles.

Chevrolet and Pontiac are both owned by General Motors. In the 1960s and 1970s Pontiac car shared a lot of technology with Buick, Oldsmobile, and Chevrolet. Chevrolet has by far the largest racing parts inventory so it makes sense to upgrade a Pontiac with Chevrolet parts if you are going for highest possible power.

I think doing time trials on 'Tackling the giant hairpins' with different vehicles would be a cool series. Similar to the hill climb in FH4 or GTAV on Mt Chiliad. Thanks for reading! 😀

I tried using slower cars to beat that stage and I managed beat it with an upgraded Miura.

The reason modded cars are so broken within classes is because if you changed the class for each mod, that means a new entry into the database rather than a modification of a prior entry, because TDU does things weird. Too many entries and the game is gonna have issues. You kinda have to regulate how easy you want the game yourself due to some wonky mechanics. But if you don't care, a fun thing to do when modding a car is pick whichever visual style you like, buy it, exit the store, go back in and then you can upgrade the performance further. Only works on cars where the visual selection isn't the third performance option initially. So we're t

7:06 Pontiac and Chevrolet are both General Motors brands, and the two share a lot of parts. Almost anything compatible with a Chevy is also compatible with a Pontiac.

On the other tuners, if you put stage 1 on you get the bodykits etc. Then you can upgrade them to stage 3 afterwards.. because if you go straight to stage 3 you can't go back in the shop...

When you upgrade your car. The first option(s) is always just cosmetic only. Take it back in after changing the appearance and you can then tune it to be faster. My FNF Supra does around 950 HP. xD

I was playing this the other day and noticed where they grabbed all of the cars from. The AAR Cuda in game has the same incorrect round taillights as the FnF AAR Cuda from Horizon 2. Drove me nuts when I seen it in H2, and it still does in this game.

played it recently and I must say this mod is mesmerizing (I would admit it wasn't without it's flaws), the dealerships for the added cars gets spread out of the map that it can be a drag at times but it's fun, also my biggest gripe about this game is that you'll have to reboot the game if you're restarting the races, although that problem appears has been more to do with the game itself tbf

actually you are able to upgrade converted cars (ex:trackhawk jeep) and enter the tuning shop again that will give you 1000hp trackhawk

The classes aren’t wonky, you’re supposed to select the first upgrade to do the conversion then go back and upgrade it to either level 2 or three

The creator of the mod said that it would be a mess. Here is what she had to say: "Because that was the easiest way i found to get these high-power tunes and keep the game "easily moddable". TDU will only understand a car class change if it reads a new entry on the database. That being said, i would need 4 entries in the car database, for 1 single vehicle, 1 entry being it stock, and 1 new entry for each tune kit. That means instead of 880 vehicles, i would need at least 3520. Not to mention that if someone decides to modify that 1 vehicle, they will need to modify the tuning its aswell. That not only means it would take a long time, but that it would make the game much more complex to be modded, so i used the original upgrade system, that's based on % increase of the base vehicle, but sadly, it doesn't support class changes."
