What is killing the Barstow is the rear suspension. It does not restrict the longitudinal motion of the rear axle enough, so when the rear axle hits something too roughly, it pulls to the back of the car, snapping the driveshaft.

It was S-shaped from the side. And the hit on the front put the engine at an angle and that's what snapped the driveshaft

Yes it was. However, Beam driveshafts are surprisingly resistant to being at weird angles. I guess they don't simulate the strain on CV joints? They're more likely to snap from the two ends being pushed together or pulled apart.

It would pretty much rip off its top with the first roll - you get a flat floor and then its not exciting anymore. Plus at radiator springs its over, you just wont be able to clear it and with a trailer pushing you against the surface you wont have a fun time.

The camper stayed together for me for awhile, but it's constantly rolling onto it's side killed speed, though the 4wd Gavril could right it by revving hard and counter-steering, which looks cool, at least.

Really love this series. Between this, your video the other day of NASCAR on the monster mile, and the Formula racing trucks on the dirt track made me realize how much I miss my old TOCA Race Car Driver 3 game for PC. I used to mess around with the files to put cars on tracks that they didn't belong on and try to last a whole race and win without the car completely destroying itself. Fun times. Keep up the good work!

The three V8's in the Barstow (291, 353, 423) all share the same model, so changing them out does literally nothing.

The 291 is slightly smaller because it's a small block instead of a big block.

I'm really excited to see the SBR4 take this. My trial was filled with dozens of flips but it just kept chugging along. After 3 or 4 laps I ripped off the ruined front right wheel so the car could at least steer with the left. It then made it another lap. Its a serious TANK

Doing a running total of radiator kills at radiator springs, I didn't remember it actually killing radiators, so taking the time to re-watch the series. 9:50 yellow car lost radiator during a roll over after a bad bounce, close enough, so this is 1/18 cars so far.

How about the Roamer and SBR4 next, along with possibly the Rally or Hill Climb Sunburst? After all, I tried those two Sunbursts out over at the (less rough) Industrial Rallycross circuit, and they were VERY prone to breaking their front wheel axles from too much turning, so it might be interesting to compare them to the Sport S Sunburst.

the subframe on the Barstow bent putting the engine at a wonky angle snapping the driveshaft in the process, if it didn't have a subframe and had a frame like the Moonhawk's then i'm pretty sure it would've lasted a lot longer

engine wasn't at a good enough angle to see it while looking under the car, but if the subframe bends a little bit the driveshaft will snap, I know this because it's one of my most used cars for high speed crashes as seeing the subframe separate from the rest of the car is quite amusing

I've taken the SBR4 around the track, and it... Isn't fun. Even the lower-end versions, without the wacky turbo, are incredibly difficult to drive around the track.

engine fire probably due to a ruptured fuel line, or maybe the heated exhaust manifold caught some liquid on fire (maybe oil when it flipped) or since the engine is not in the proper location the exhaust is touching something that ignited it, or maybe caused by an electric wire shorted out and caught fire, or battery caught. well that the typical explanation of engine fires
