I agree. I love the No Lester rule, but you should be able to use it once or twice, otherwise the stealth approach is thrown out the window entirely and it will just be car chases non stop every episode. Needs a good balance, I think.

Yeah, I'm liking this format. I like the stealthy parts to be fair, they're what makes this series. But I need them marinated with many heroic car chases. Maybe Alex will learn from the near miss thing that no amount of caution on foot is worth it.

On that "gather all Pri's in one location" strategy mentioned at 11:30 or so: Con 1: You are now driving a pink Pri. No blending in possible. You HAVE to run (ideally through side channels where players are unlikely to look: storm drains, train tracks, beaches, ...). Con 2: You are now running in a slow Pri. Con 3: You need to blow up any aircraft (blimps, helicopters) before you do anything else for this to even have a chance of working. Pro 1: No notification, so the hunters won't know where you are, or that you're not blending in. And they _initially_ won't know that you are in a pink Pri. Pro 2 (mostly for this rule set): No wanted level (unless you run over pedestrians), so the cops won't alert the players to your position. (This would only come into effect if/while you switch back to blending in.) Con 4: They'll pretty quickly catch on to your strategy, for the first Pri that they check on that's missing, they might assume that they didn't get the notification. But after 2 or 3, they'll quickly narrow it down to between "all notifications are bugged" and "he's taking the Pri's" Con 3 can be overcome with planning. You can lay a trap at the blimp/helicopter spawn place. And if you study which area most players concentrate at the moment when the blimp gets taken, you'll know which direction is safest to escape to. And ideally, it would be in a game where the hunters are only allowed one aircraft for the whole hunt. Con 4 can be overcome with this slightly modified strategy: You steal Pri 1, dive it to the position of Pri 2, switch into Pri 2 and blow up Pri 1. Ideally, you'll run Pri 1 over to Pri 2 while the players are crowding around the spot from where you shot down the blimp. With the explosion of Pri 1 the players will think that youv'e just been at Position 1: They got the message, the Pri is missing, everything adds up - except them not hearing the explosion, and/or hearing it in the wrong location, possibly. So, now that they are all heading to location 1, you drive Pri 2 to the location of Pri 3. Rinse and repeat, and they'll be one step behind you until they get wise to what's happening.

It was such a great episode, and I always love hearing it from the hunters' perspective. I normally prefer the nerve-racking stealth episodes but once in a while an action packed episode like this is absolute perfection. Maybe from now do a compromise between the "Unlimited Lester" rules and the "No Lester" rules: limit Alex to one "Remove wanted level" and one "Cops turn a blind eye" per episode, which would force him to really choose carefully when to use either.

Easy middle ground: You get to call Lester once for every 2 Pri's blown up. Either clear a wanted level or turn a blind eye. Just one. For every 2 cars. You get this mode, and the stealth mode, all in one video. And if 2 Pri's gives you Lester abilities too quickly, make it 3 instead.

Great run and an epic finish. But 2 quick questions: 1) What about trying a mole-type STH? Essentially, one of the hunters is secretly on your team, feeding you information and attempts to cause problems to the other hunters during chases while not getting identified themselves. The hunters would win if they kill either Alex or the mole. (Kinda inspired by the US game show, also called The Mole) 2) How come there wasn't a discussion video for STH 46?

mole STH would be fun, but IMO i feel that even if mole is eliminated, the hunters shouldn’t win yet, its just more of a handicap to Alex. the hunters should only win when they get Alex.

I enjoyed that. The "no lester" rule seems to be a good choice, it means that even if the hunters are far away, you are obliged to find a better way out. One comment: When you went to get the Prii at Michael's house, you parked on the wrong side of the road. That is sort of what saved you in a way, as the car was close enough. But certainly it would be enough to twig some attention that there is a car parked the wrong way near a prii.

It is incredibly difficult to simulate the driving style of the AI. There are technical differences that we can not overcome without a mod (which would quickly ban you from the game by rockstar). The AI can steer the car seamlessly - but we can't. Our wheels turn with at least a sudden 7 degree angle, regardless how short we tip the controller or the keyboard keys; it's always sudden. So, the hunters, when they suspect you to be the hunted, all they have to do is to wait and observe you if your wheels do these 7 degree sudden turns, which they will inevitably every time you steer around. This is a very reliable way to recognize if it is an AI or not.

You probably get enough suggestions for STH ideas, but here’s another one inspired by Blakey running on foot during boopy gun races. One hunter has access to the map and thus always knows where you are, but they have to be on foot and can’t communicate in any way with the other hunters.

That ending gave me another idea: To successfully complete the hunt you have to escape in an air vehicle such as an airplane or helicopter (that way multiple locations are usable), and escape to a location such as the top of Maze Bank tower or the top of Mt Chilliad. Could also expand it to water vehicles but it might mean too many escape routes; however, a water vehicle run to Chilliad would be more challenging (and more exciting for the viewers).

For the no Lester rule, there are few mechanics that may aid in hiding. If you get a wanted level and then change car, you will be harder to identify by the police, which is usually shown by a black arrow on the map. This allows you to stay in a police cone of vision for a few more seconds before being noticed. Whilst you will not be able to tell all that easily, due to the lack of map, it may make the difference between a stealthy getaway, and being seen. Continuing from this, open leafy bushes will provide cover for your character, and the same black arrow effect will occur. A funny quirk of this is if you drive into a larger bush, get out of the car, and then get back into it (whilst you and the car are in the bush) the police will effectively ‘forget’ what car you are driving, giving the same effect as if you were to change car. I realise without a map this may not be crazy useful, but I thought I’d mention it.

Hunters should be allowed motorbikes. Knocking them off the bikes with whatever you're driving would be hilarious! As with any vehicle, there's no shooting from bikes. Lastly, two episodes per month would be far better

I've watched DarkviperAUs Chaos% and those are ofcourse offline games I'm just wondering if it were possible to make a private lobby where every car the hunted enters is applied the stats of a great car, so blending in becomes more dynamic since you could use a Van to blend in AND to escape

Definately enjoyed the older format. It would be fun if you had players driving the Pri's, perhaps around a defined circuit so you could act as a hunter, and it should set up more chases, which are the best part of StH in my opinion. Except that bit when you jumped the hedge onto the Pri, that was gold 😆

Roll a die at the start of the game, that's the number of times Alex may call Lester, but that's also the number of Pri's remaining when the 'No-supercars' rule is automatically lifted for the hunters. Could make for a bit of a variant.

I wonder...Is it possible to do a retro STH, with something like GTA4, or SA:MTA?...Would be interesting to see a retro STH, with it cycling to different locals (or even a Super STH where you start in one location, till you get to the airport, then continue in the other area till you escape). Would also be hilarious if it ended up in a time warp, and you were doing a STH in RDR2 xD !

I wonder what this would play like in a different area. Like let's say you play in the area around Alamo Sea this would maybe even make boats useful. Of course you find much worse vehicles up there so there has to be some rule changes for the cars but you do have a better field of view. It would also be required that sniper rifles would not be allowed by the hunters otherwise I feel it would be too easy up there. Not sure maybe worth a try?

Maybe have a rule where you can call Lester only once or twice during a Hunt. Then you get stealth and also guaranteed action. Or have a rule where if you make your way to the roof of a car park for instance you can call always call Lester from that position.

i think for a nice balance lester should still be in play, but you’re limited to maybe 3 for the game. or even just one, to get a perfect getaway. makes you think a little more about how & when you want to use the call & still keeps some of the stealth element.

I hope this doesn't sound rude but I always find it pretty disappointing when there is no map. I'm not saying that I'm owed anything but I feel like for how much they add to these discussions it seems like a pretty easy thing to do to have someone on map duty. I'm obviously not involved in the recording for these so I have no idea what difficulties there are behind the scenes but I still wanted to give my two cents as a viewer.

I believe GTA online can have between 16 and 32 players in a session, so they have enough room even if they have 10 or 12 hunters, but I would imagine the difficulty is they first have to have the required number of hunters before someone can be the mapper. If they don't have enough people available for recordings or there's no task master then there isn't an extra player around or anyone willing to be out of the action for the sake of the map recording.
