I know Ken and Greg were fonder of the demos, outside of the drum machine. I think they're a little weak and unfocused on some songs, but some others (like this one), I definitely like the demo as much, if not a little more.

@@themarfcollection yeah on one of his personal youtube vidoes he was saying 4 of the rough mixes made the final album idk if that includes some of the demos or songs they made after the fact

@@L173pehs For Magnified, Ken is credited for two mixes--that's mixes of the stuff they recorded in the studio, not these demos. As far as I know, only two vocal lines on Wonderful Life and the segues were recorded in that apartment and then made it onto the album. The drum machine kick was used on songs where Greg couldn't play the kick pattern properly (Frogs and Empty Friend are the two I definitely hear it on).

is there an hq version of the macaque demo?

I'm sure, but it hasn't surfaced yet. I suspect they maybe came from a 90s Failure fansite and have just been floating around since, given some chatter I've heard about these demos and where they came from and that they originally (before Essentials) surfaced in similar quality. Would be cool to hear them clearer.
