Is Fair City mean't to be the Irish version of Coronation Street. Set in Dublin rather than in Manchester?

Yes they are some elements of Coronation street in Fair City but more so its meant to be Ireland's answer to Eastenders, Tony Holland who created Eastenders along with Julia Smith also helped to launch 'Fair City' for RTÉ in 1989.

It was originally going to be called Northsiders and was very much planned as RTEs answer to Eastenders.

today's fair city you mean is awful. with terrible actors and rubbish story lines . the fair city of 89 and the early years was brilliant.
