Hi friends! I had so many questions from my last video on selling your products on Faire that I thought another video would help answer your questions. We are going over a ton of different things including promotions, samples, pre-orders, how to set minimum order values, what it's like a year later, becoming and top shop and so much more. I have been selling on Faire for a year and a half now and a lot of things have changed but it's still a great addition for my business and I am so grateful for the retailers I have been connected with since joining Faire last year.

As a Faire Supplier, I thought I'd mention to others watching this, that Faire has an expedited payment option if you do not want net payments! They do take an additional percentage, but you get paid out upon shipment of the order and do not have to wait the 30-60 days!

@@caitlinblue Of course! It was a make or break decision for me when I first started in wholesale. As long as the price points for your products make sense for it, I always recommend it for people just starting out. It was a lot easier - for me personally - to scale my wholesale quicker with those immediate payments that I could put back into my business (:

I would say that when first time so called wholesale buyers want to test your products, you should find the smallest sample kits to send them. For example when it's a candle, send them a tea light for that scent or a wax melt. Lotions, a small scoop in a mini can or bath bombs in portions. Find some small tester objects/bags to place samples in and photos of what it looks like in regular size. All they need is an "Sample" of what things are. Everyone isn't in it for business, they're looking for ways to get over on ppl.

This is a great suggestion to keep samples small. I am afraid I've seen too many small makers get burned by retailers wanting free product including myself which is just so sad. 💕

@@caitlinblue Be the game changer so that you wouldn't be the one losing. If they don't choose to make bigger purchases, at the end of the day you didn't lose anything. Everyone should have a small potion sample kit. Don't give anyone the chance to ever make your product their own for free!!!!

You are literally the only video I found that is helpful about what to expect from Faire I’m new to Faire and I’m so nervous because I feel like it’s a big step for my small business but I haven’t gotten an order yet so I’m nervous if my products are not good enough but I believe they are idk mind is going crazy over here

So glad you found this helpful! I think Faire has gotten SO big and there is just more competition now so it may take some time to be discovered. Definitely use your social media pages to promote your Faire shop if you think there are retailers looking to stock your products.

Dear Caitlen this is very powerful video with huge essence in it. I'm not in that boat yet, and I don't know the particulars, because I want my brand to be more retail, not wholesale. This can be really innocents at the begging but can end up serious that all sales are whole sales and not very much, retail. What about the brand it self. No problem, if we want all business to be wholesale brand, but we should all think about all this in perspective. We can loose our so called brand very, very quickly. Profit first for sure, but think about always twice for everything...For me personally, bath bombs I am stating 3 time on your channel are past, people get the point, nobody is selling them like before, there is changing on the market, b bombs are thing of the past, sorry to say. So many people in the business as insiders are complaining about b bombs, so many so called customers regular to many, now they are buying them in Dollar Tree, no comment further. Inflation takes a tool, people change them habits, very, very strange things are happening. We will see, personally Fiorella Soupery deserves to be retail brand with recognition and quality and huge commitment, not whole sale suppler only. My humble opinion, and congrats for the success in all platforms, enjoy, all the best!

I agree that you cannot do wholesale 100% if you plan on building a brand. It's a fine line between the two and certain retailers can be the death of a brand very quickly! Yes bath bombs are so over. I just need to unload the packaging I have so I can move on to something more successful. Thanks George!

I have had a few sketchy emails on Faire. I just answer politely and according to policy. Thank heaven it has only been a few. So far really liking Faire. Definitely had the requests from vendors wanting to go off the platform. Had to decline that. One is very local to me. Smh My best "customer" so far makes baskets with products that she gives away for her business. She consistently reorders from me. Would love more feedback from customers as well.

I’m struggling to find the right packaging for my food products. I make baked goods and chocolates. Thanks I really get a lot out of your videos. I have been on Faire for almost a month now and I am really happy with it so far. My sales did drop off a lot after the Summer Market. Summer is always a slow time for me, the summer market was actually great. I'm sure things will pick up for fall soon. When you say connect with customers are you referring to the vendors on Faire? Or just customers in general? Thanks!!

I felt the same way. I kept putting it off. I finally decided to do Faire’s line sheet and have them put up the page for me. It was such a great relief to have someone else set it up. They don’t charge you for this. Best decision ever! I even took a few days off. 😀 Good luck. I try to do as many things that scare me! Lol I figure I grow from these things.

Canadians beware: I signed up for Faire, got an order, and it turns out couldn't take payment because I didn't have a US bank account. They wanted me to sign up with some 3rd party payment site, which was really invasive in their questioning and basically wanted a blood sample, a lock of hair, and a strand of my DNA to be their client. I ended up apologizing to the buyer, refunding them, and taking my products off. What a waste of time. All Faire had to do was make international payments available via PayPal or even old school cheques in the mail, but no they're too lazy.

Yay thanks so much for this video! I had no idea that you could set up a sample order on faire, but I just checked the guides on Faire, and they said the Samples feature was only in beta for select users, and will be shut down 8/15/22 :( I hope they bring something similar back!

Amazing video as always. Idk if you talked about this in your other video about faire but how do you ship international orders? I did receive one and made a shipping label but not sure how to do the commercial invoice and where do I place that on the box or inside?

ahh I should have included that! The customs forms get generated for you and you just bring those to UPS and they make sure you sign the proper place on the forms. They will then put the labels on the box the way they are supposed to be and I haven't had any issues. I've only shipped to Canada though so not sure about other countries.

I had the same experience with Faire! My first full year was insanely busy!! It was great but not sustainable, and then this year has dropped substantially. May I ask what your best sales channel is? I’m wanting to get into markets but never had time. I guess one benefit of being slower on Faire is I can do that now! I hated having all of my eggs in one basket anyway for this reason!

I’m right there with you! My best sales channel is wholesale direct. Working with local stores to wholesale. I find it so much more enjoyable to build a relationship with a store owner in person!

Hello Caitlin. Love your videos. if I currently offer 40% off of retail to my wholesale customers. will faire allow a similar discount? For example a $100 order would cost retailer $60. So if I sell through Faire would it be $60 minus the 25% off for the first order. Or would faire say $100 order is $50 minus an additional 25% ?

This is really helpful! As a jewelry seller, I’m wondering what to charge for samples. To avoid getting scammed, I’m thinking of charging them the full retail price, and if they’d like to order half that cost gets refunded. Would that be a good idea?

So glad you found this helpful! I think in you can charge whatever makes sense for you. But do you need samples for jewelry? Usually samples are only needed for things that have scent or texture, etc.

No, you can do US only. That's what I do as I'm not ready to expand internationally yet!

Faire has become a lot more saturated and summer is always slow, hopefully you'll have a great holiday season. I don't put all of my items on Faire because I simply can't keep up with production. I keep some items for my own store so customers have a reason to shop from me directly too!

This must be a stupid question because I cannot find the answer ANYWHERE. First, tahnk you for your videos/trainings re Faire. They are so helpful. My question is: does Faire's commission come off your RETAIL price or your WHOLESALE price? I can't figure this out. Thanks in advance.

Hi! It comes off your wholesale price. So if you’re selling an item for $10 wholesale on faire and the retail is $20 faire would take 25% of the $10 because that’s what the customer pays you…Hope that helps!
