its too bad that the pit section ruins what was an awesome performance by the band. Hugely frustrating how inept some of those kids were.

Hello there, I’m an alumni from this marching band and this was my junior year. I was in pit my freshman and sophomore years, and marched bass clarinet my junior and senior years. I actually have to disagree with you because for this show, the music the pit was given was very difficult and challenging. If you have ever been in pit, timing is difficult when you are not playing with the battery. There are multiple sections where the pit is by themselves. And for most of them being freshman (which you wouldn’t know obviously), I think they did a pretty darn good job. I honestly think parts of our brass didn’t sound too well in this performance. But to each there own opinion I guess. And not every performance is going to be perfect. That’s why you practice at events like post games or halftime (like this one was). I don’t recall when in the season this was, looks like early/mid-season. And in my school, our band directors were constantly making changes to music, visuals, ect. This show went through so many changes in the short (but long) 4 months. And I realize this comment is a year old, but I just happen to see it while looking back on some memories. So please, do not call my fellow classmates “inept” when this show was one of the most challenging shows I did in my 4 years and so much hard work went into it. Thank you.
