Working in IT myself, I realize that at 52, I'm still in my prime. Thought processes work as well as ever. Sometimes I still feel “underchallenged”. My younger colleagues are not necessarily better. They have fundamentally different methods, but they don't yet lead to the goal any faster. However, my oldest colleague is 10 years older than me and you can tell that the thought processes are slowing down or some things are being forgotten. Getting old sucks
@noobahoi3 ай бұрын
@@toddybody Well, yes, you are partly right. You can keep your mental agility with the right healthy lifestyle. Your thought process will decrease eventually, but by how much is dependent on your lifestyle. I knew 90s years old who were sharp as hell. And I knew 50s years old who just gave up and didn't care. It's a matter of challenging yourself everday. Unfortunately, numerous older guys are just dependent on their knowledge and won't learn new stuff every day.

What we release is to the public. I would say the general scene consensus on demos is that its CC-BY-NC. So feel free to do whatever, given proper credit and as long as you dont earn any money from it.
@MD_il_microcanale3 ай бұрын
@@FairLight1337 my channel is not monetized, so there are no problems. However, I prefer to upload a demo a few months after its publication, so that the authors can reap the benefits!
@FairLight13373 ай бұрын
Sounds like a great plan! We have the issue that others make emulator recordings of our stuff which is faster than our own recordings of our own stuff on real hardware. This to the extent that our videos of our own stuff were seen as non original.
@MD_il_microcanale3 ай бұрын
@@FairLight1337 This thing saddens me, the recognition to the authors, in my opinion, is due by the enthusiasts. I also record from real hardware, a C64c with a 1541 II, sometimes I use the 1541Ultimate for certain creations, sometimes I use the original 256Kb REU 1764 from mother Commodore, always if the demo or the game in question requires these expansions. I point the camera at the screen and start the demo, more real hardware than this you can't get!
@FairLight13373 ай бұрын
I managed to argue my case that these are recordings of computer programs we have made and released to the public. Nothing stops others from recording the same, but we only publish stuff where we did the original. The only thing that stopped was the monetisation. We have it off for demos (to not have them interrupted by commercials) but the verdict affected also the Fairlight TV episodes. We earn something like a EURO per episode, so its not like makes actual commercial harm, but it was still annoying.

How can Trident produce sooo much code so quickly? Is HE really an AI? Nice work!

I would say a combination of many things. General competence and a structure so he can build on his old code, so that he doesnt need to reinvent the wheel every time. Add to that genuine passion and setting off time to do it.

FLT: Can you check out the VIC-IIe of the C128? It has a lot more functions than the VIC-II of the C64. Unfortunately only one demo used it in 2001. The video is very old. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/baC8dZ2Be5V3ldk This demo also does not feature the true VIC-IIe interlace mode allowing 160x400 and 320x400 pixels. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3Wwh2Z-qL58iw
@FairLight13373 ай бұрын
You mean using it from the c64 mode or produce a native c64 demo? An old trick is using the 2 MHz mode in the border and is the extra cycles for stuff...
@Michael.Werker3 ай бұрын
Yeah, the 2 MHz trick is rather often used. It is working in Eye of the Beholder, Sonic and it's even possible using it in GEOS. But no, the VIC-IIe has more tricks to figure out, border graphics without sprites, 11 new colors and more. Risen from Oblivion is from 2001 and it works from C64 mode. Every new function of the C128 can be used from C64 mode, including the VDC and the serial burst mode. But you have to provide own routines.
@Michael.Werker3 ай бұрын
If the C64 gets boring, I have since years a project here which is a specific expansion for the C128. This hardware would be especcially interesting for the demoscene. It's also cheap, less than 100 Euro. A modified version can be used in the C16 and would make it more useful than the plus/4.
@Michael.Werker3 ай бұрын
But I don't find a hardware developer. People in forums only want expensive FPGA remakes instead of adding new features to the original hardware. Instead of being expensive and exotic my project is designed to spread. Only the PCB has to be created, it's designed for self-soldering. The design is fool-proof. There's no FlashROM neccessary, the computer can't be bricked. It can work with the original C128 ROM and BASIC, but allows a new structured Kernal and BASIC without bankswitching.
@FairLight13373 ай бұрын
Generally the value of the c64 is the common platform, that we can gather around. Even making stuff on the 128 is rare, and then creating a small hardware expansion that would have an even smaller base, thats of course possible but dont expect much software support for it. I dont hink I get what you want to achieve. What is the idea you want to build?

That command looks like something that will load and run the first program on disk if you have some sort of DOS wedge, either replacement Kernal or via a cartridge. Via a stock machine I dont hink it will give you anything usable.
