Fairly OddParents: Shadow Showdown REVIEW | Nickelodeon Video Game History

1:59-2:06 Some of you viewers may be wondering, “Hey, where’s the Nickelodeon logo on the GBA cover?!?” Well, it’s not there because you saw the cover for the PAL version of that game. Since Nelvana owns the full rights to The Fairly OddParents overseas, international releases of the game replaced all references to Nickelodeon with references to that Canadian animation powerhouse. This also prevented the other Fairly OddParents games from being released beyond the United States, and according to Ludocity, is the reason why Timmy Turner got snubbed from appearing in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. I didn’t know that Shadow Showdown even had an international release until I was notified about it on Twitter. I wonder what convinced THQ to clear the rights for this one particular game?

Can’t wait to see your review of NickToons Freeze Frame Frenzy, my choice for the most underrated Nickelodeon crossover game. It had a simple but addictively fun gameplay style, but doesn’t seem to get much attention from very many people, or at least not the same extent as the Unite! series.

I rented this game from Hollywood Video back in the day and never got past Fairy World, last year I decided to buy it and once I beat it the empty feeling didn't go away.

I didn't agree with his thoughts on a few of the Rugrats handheld games. I found Time Traveller's and especially In Paris to be vastly superior to the movie game.

If it means anything speaking from experience I think this one of the most polished and well-realized titles Blitz Games ever made, and probably my favorite game from them tied with Glover. Though having said that sadly from here it's only gonna be downhill for them in terms of quality, which already isn't very high to begin with, as it will become apparent some time later.

@Janeiro I It's a Crash Bandicoot clone, but with controls more fidgety and imprecise than even the first game, is ugly and monotonous, has uninspired level design, and is shockingly lacking in compelling content. After the normal game is finished the only thing to do left is racing against the clock, but unlike Warped it's not fun; no new moves to unlock and embrace to the absolute max, no subtle changes to object interactions, no variants like gold and platinum, and you get nothing for it. It was made in 2002; the near end of the PS1's life. There's no excuse for how shoddy and poorly designed it is, especially when it's released the same year as the second PS1 Harry Potter game, which is far superior and a quality game.
