It's no wonder I've always been your #1 Fan. What an awesome Layout. It's a Masterpiece. So nice to see a Detailed Look of the Whole Layout. Very Sad when someone who has contributed so much to our hobby passes away. May Mr. Brown rest in Peace.

This channel blows my mind. What a perfect replica of WV coal life in the late 60’s. Still several years before the Chessie System came to be.

I've watched your videos for some time now and have enjoyed every one immensely. But this one -- the one that puts all the others in perspective with the layout as a whole -- is the best ever. Your craftsmanship is unparalleled. For years I've dreamed of having a 60's coal country layout. This one is a work of art and something to aspire to when I start building mine. If you ever start giving tours, I'll be first in line. Hats off to you, Don, on one of the greatest layouts out there.

Each time I return to watch this spectacular video I see something I missed. It is beyond incredible. Every detail done to perfection, the vehicles, figures, scenery, the rolling stock the sound , The background sounds everything. Please let us know if it will ever be on any NMRA or layout tours in 2023 as it would definitely be worth the drive to see. Thank you so much for giving us these beautiful videos to see over and over again on your channel.

Logan WV here, I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now and I’ve got to tell you that your layout is amazing. I’ve been waiting for this video here for sometime so I could see your entire layout and I’m even more speechless about it now and didn’t think that was possible. I’ve always been interested in railroading here in the area from that time period ever since I was little. From the coal camps where I live to the idndustrial towns and cities like Charleston where trains ran the streets and alleys. You nailed everything. Love the detail from the advertisements to the litter on the ground. Simply amazing. The nighttime scenes are out of this world. By far the best layout ever. And I thought I’d share that my Dad worked for Amherst in Logan in the late 70s. Your friend that passed has to be proud with your hard work and attention to detail. Congratulations

Very kind comments thanks! It was 12yrs of long winters working module by module. I'm still not finished but getting close. I live in Maine but my heart is in the coal fields of WV.....I know you will agree it's hard to describe to folks unless you have been there.
@wvbygraceofgod5508 Жыл бұрын
@@Industrialmodels2 couldn’t agree more. You nailed the coal camp, duplexes and single story all the same drab color which is how the coal company did them. Your layout helped me visualize how my area looked back then. I would love to do a layout of my area back then. What I really like about yours is how it shows the rail business back then. Look forward towards your next video, I know they take a lot of work not to mention the hard work of the layout. But I will be patiently waiting!

Don, I know I have been asking you about this for a while and now that you have created it, I'm speechless. THIS IS SICK! There is so much that it's intimidating. If you open your doors, I hope to one day see this jewel in person. Until then I will probably watch this at least 50 times.

@Industrialmodels2 Жыл бұрын
@The Trainboard the only problem is having the time. I'm still working full time in corporate America and have a very busy family life. I am not a content creator looking to build a KZbin empire. I just love model railroading and want to share this with like minded people. I struggle to find time to run trains! I have tried to answer each and every question when they come up. Some day I will be retired and will spend my days making videos and doing interesting projects. Until that day, I hope the layout will provide some enjoyment and inspiration. 🙂

Glad to see the whole layout. The weathering on the bascule bridge is incredible. Love the period ads. Also use of "Cumberland" in business names/road sign to place to scene. The heavy foliage near the water is also very realistic. Invite you to do a video on freight car weathering, maybe two: boxcars and hoppers. Look forward to your next. Thank you.

You see very few O-Scale layouts showing the depth of prototypical attention to the minute aspects' of the scene. You have captured that feeling in spades; along the the intertwined prototypical sounds of your videos! Talk about immersion! I have a question - probably a few, but for time-sake just 1. I was wondering at TS 10:28 is that a scale track? If if was, it would be neat if you could do the gauntlet-style track arrangement. If you could have one of the digital readout panel on the facia that would kick it up a few notches.
@Industrialmodels2 Жыл бұрын
Hi Colin....yes exactly! Its supposed to look like a modern scale track recently installed but I couldn't really figure out how to best do the moveable gauntlet track so I just ran some rails down the center and called it "good". I may go back and rebuild it at some point as a fun project but for now its going to have to be an imaginary scale. Would be cool to install something that actually weighed the cars and gave a readout on a side panel. Greta idea. Those Atlas coal cars are heavy. :)

@Industrialmodels2 Жыл бұрын
@@1jefreys That's ok, all engines are powered...O scale is very heavy- especially the coal trains....for example a loaded Atlas diecast coal car weighs 3.4 lbs. I add 20oz of weight to each engine which helps with tractive effort....also I use a G scale power system with a walk around controller. MRC Power G gives me power enough to run multiple engines with heavy trains.
