If it's training gloves similar to reyes then for me these win hands down and especially half the price. fairtex bgv9 vs topboxer aliens vs reyes for long bagwork sessions for a puncher?
@archiei40x Жыл бұрын
Depends on what you're looking for and how big your hands are. How much you care for comfort level and durability vs price. Out of the three, Reyes have better leather and roomier compartment for me. Prob the least comfy out of the 3 due to lining and thumb placement but if you want training, I recommend the extra padding variant. For price, Fairtex is the least expensive if you're patient to get them from Thailand, will take anywhere from 2-3months for shipping, at least in my experience but you pay 1/4 the price of Reyes. If you want custom, Alien from TB is great and unmatched. Because it's basically tailored to my hand, it's the most comfortable out of the three. I have to say, Reyes is usually heavier than the listed weight. They have been going less than listed weight recently on some of their gloves and their stitching quality has gone down compared to the ones I bought from early 2010s. So it's a hit or miss, though it's usually a hit, just expect some misses. My previous pair of Reyes extra padding lasted 6yrs, for bag and padwork only and rotating with other gloves. The pads gave out and leather are still good though I take care of em properly. I'd have to say, it's prob the most durable leather out of all the gloves I have but the leather feels different from the newer pair I bought, not as thick... so only time will tell.

Fairtex describes padding as dual-layered latex in one sentence, but also as utilising their signature three-layered padding in another sentence. In this regard you describe feeling a firm EVA layer closer to the hand. If all three explanations are correct the padding is dual-layered latex on an EVA base. I did ask Fairtex (Australia) to confirm, but they never replied. Please reinvestigate this. EVA is a negative. A recent BGV5 purchase arrived with the left hand compartment, unusable, crushed out of shape most likely due to tight/squashed storage.

Thanks for this review! I just got a pair of these in 14oz. I have smallish hands and I found the compartment quite wide but they worked well with the thickness of my hand (like between my palm and back of hand). I didnt think they were tight though, at least compared to titles, which I find quite tight @16oz before breaking in. I think it's actually roomier than my friend's cletos @14oz. But Your hands are much much bigger than mine. You also didn't mention the finger-tip grip bar, which is one of my favourite bits about these gloves. It's nice to just have something extra to grip on. I also found the leather to be really slippery, which might help punches slip through the guard 😬.

Hey man, I’d love to get your input if using gloves without wraps is ok for the glove. Assuming the hand is conditioned to where hand injury is not a concern, I’m wondering if no wraps wear the inside of the glove out quicker due to the less padding and no moisture wicking making sweat go straight into the glove. My 10 year old bgv1 wore out this last year, not sure if it’s because of age or because I stopped using wraps and left the moisture in for a couple days before realizing how wet they stayed inside with no wraps.
