I'm re-reading John O'Donohue's book titled, Beauty. I gathered rosemary and lemon thyme from my garden today and made an herbal tea. Later I baked bread. I wandered around me sanctuary of a backyard where many trees and shrubs are greening up. I look for beauty everywhere because it brings me peace. Yesterday I watched the movie, The Secret Garden, and I watch videos like yours. Over the weekend I connected with all four of my adult children. I am at peace in the middle of all this Great Unknowing.

I’m not a quilter but as I’m amassing an insane amount of scrap fabric and currently have lots of time perhaps quilting is an activity to take up...can one quilt by hand w/o a loom?
@homebodyheaven61144 жыл бұрын
Erica Lasley yes. You can’t quilt with a loom. Search utube for hundreds of lessons.
@jimmiepatrum4 жыл бұрын
@@1928House_Washington I actually prefer to do hand quilting, but for anything larger than a baby quilt, I usually take my pieced quilt, batting, and backing to a place which has a long arm quilting machine to be quilted. The quilting is beautiful, though kind of expensive if your quilt is large. I agree with Homebody Heaven that there are many sources on KZbin to learn how to quilt by hand. Good luck to you!

Thank you Niamh. As usual, sane and supportive ideas. I live in Spain where we are all in obligatory isolation except for essential journeys. Panic isn't going to help. Keeping calm, safe and as healthy as possible will help. May I please take this opportunity to ask everyone to stay at home as much as is humanly possible - no matter what your government is advising. This simple measure can protect you and all others in this complicated time. I wish you all the very best.

As an italian currently in lockdown (it's been more than two weeks already), thank you very much. We needed this. Here we have restrictive measures that are unpredecented for a Western democracy (police patrolling the streets to ensure you don't leave your home if not for essential reasons etc), and even if we know that it's for the best (we have about 35k cases and almost 5k deaths) it can be quite anxiety inducing. It's becoming harder and harder to keep my mental health in check. Thank you for providing a much needed moment of calm :)

Best of luck there! Hope you find a rythm and stay sane and healthy. I feel that we (the rest of Europe, I’m Dutch) could do more to help. So this is my teeny tiny contribution to that. We’re not yet in lockdown but today there was a flood of messages by officials to our citizens to play it by the rule (1,5m distance). The weather was great and people didn’t take it seriously enough yesterday 😕 Hope it works. My parents are well into their ‘80s, so I don’t see them. I just taught my mother how to video caal via whatsapp. Anyway, hang in there!

My daughter was two weeks into her first job when she had to stop practising as a massage therapist, and start practising social distancing, like everyone else. Now that she's home so much, we have started clearing out cupboards, and stumbling across so much memorabilia.. stuff we'd forgotten about that makes us laugh, and reminisce, and just be. Hi! Thank you for Fairyland Cottage for this video! And I would also like to Thank all people in this comments section who are praying for this Pandemic to end. Being an Indian, I too am quarantined with my family in my home. We are mostly spending time together, praying to get over it soon, praying for the essential care providers who are dealing with this crisis being in the frontline! But somewhere amidst this, I am finding some positivity... like..the AQI is decreasing, the rat-race has suddenly paused, we are thinking more about the society than about our careers and professions. I hope this good going remains even after this Pandemic ends. Prayers for all my fellow humans in every part of world! And yeah, take love ☺️

Hello Niamh, I like the message of this video, it's we're all connected. And we can use this special time to look after ourselves and others more. Also I find the term "social distancing", which is often used nowadays, irritating. It should called "physical distancing" instead. Because what we all can learn in this special time, is to be there for one another. We're in the same boat. People here in Germany cheer for the ones that keep up their work for society, such as doctors, nurses, people who work in supermarkets.. This is a time of oneness. We're not separated. Never. Stay well, dear Niamh and thanks again for your wonderful videos and much love for all! 💞☀️

While I am doing my best to remain calm, I also realize that there is nothing I can do about this. And of course, I often wonder when the bottom will come because then, we can start to come back up. In the spirit of knowing how connected we all are, today I made six face masks to be given to a local nursing home. I plan to make 25. And then with all of this, I want to get back to my most creative hobby, Watercolor painting. This is what calms me the most, keeps my hands busy, and takes my mind off the present. Thank you so much for such a calm and comforting video! Right now, I'm learning that I need more time in complete quiet. Even though I always thought I needed to listen to music or an audio book when I'm alone to "keep me company" (and we choose not to have a TV in the house), I figured out that I feel happier and more at peace when I complete activities in silence. I enjoy the activity more and get it done more mindfully (like doing dishes/housework, checking emails, etc). I still like to listen to an audio book when I knit, though. Many warm hugs!! :D

Very calming and encouraging video, thank you ! I live on my own since december and applying social distancing has been pretty hard, I chat with my friends, my family and my colleagues online everyday but I'm looking forward to when we'll be allowed to meet people face to face again ! To make myself a routine, I make a cup of tea every morning, and have an hour of outdoors time in the afternoon (as spring is still chilly here) after my work-from-home, just to get some sun. And as someone with anxiety, I cut my reading of the news to the strict necessary : all the informations going around right now just felt too overwhelming.

There's times I feel that I'm starting to stress I go sit in my garden. All my raised beds are empty right now because the weather has been crazy here. I sit and look at all the beds and plan which bed is growing what. Which pot will have what herbs. I added extra beds this year to grow more fresh food not just for hubby and me, but most importantly for the children.

@@FairylandCottage yes. I have a bench sitting under a tree near my raised beds. It was supposed to be a dwarf plum tree, but I think it's a dogwood tree. I too I'm trying to be intentional in my words and deeds without causing offence. However, I have to really work on myself. During this social distancing, I've discovered that I am not as patient as I thought I was....and I can really be judgemental. (Always told myself I was fair minded) However, I am glad that I've discovered these things about myself and although I cannot change overnight. Becoming aware of these traits has also made me more conscious about trying to change for the better. I'm reading more scripture, making an effort to consume only positive or character building material (discovered Stoicism). Not easy but I'm confident I will get to where I want to be. In the meantime I ask God to intervene during these moments as they are all opportunities to improve and better myself. Good luck to both of us. Niamh God bless you and may you continue making these calming videos.

Im so grateful for you voice of reason. Life has certainly changed. Trying to stay positive in isolation. Talking from my balcony and my window, and of course messenger. Taking 5000iu of vitamin D3. Gargling with warm salt with 2 drops of 5% iodine to a liter of filtered boiled water, twice a day. Drinking hot herbal tea every hour. Trying to get used to not haveing my family pop in and out all day and cooking the evening meal for everyone I live across the garden from one sons family and my other son lives four houses away. But the martial law doesn't permit mingling. If i need help i have to sit on the balcony while they attend what i need We ate told to stay one Llama distance at all time ( i live in Peru 😜 ) so trying to stay positive and grateful. I do have food stores for ~ 8 months.

It's so interesting to hear how things are around the world. Thank you. Martial law! We are not there in Canada yet. We went for a drive and to take our dogs out after dark last night and our town was like a ghost town. Very eerie. Most people are being very sensible, though one friend's boss is trying to keep their accountants office open, even though the tax deadline has been extended. She is telling him she is not going to go in any more. I'm glad your family is at least nearby. I'm going to be remembering about the llama when I go grocery shopping today. 🦙😊 Love from Canada to Peru. (Look how similar our flags are!) 🇨🇦 🇵🇪

Thank you. Good focused words. Change is guaranteed in life. As the manager for an essential service, the amount of change I have been dealing with everyday lately has increased and been stressful, but the importance of providing a calm anchor on the rough seas I am leading my team thru is paramount. To remain calm I find that it helps to focus on matching my heartbeat to a new slower rhythm and feel my center shift. Sometimes it is as easy as closing my eyes and tapping my legs with my fingers slowly winding down the rhythm until my body slows down. I just found that watching your video is another way to match my heartbeat to a slower rhythm. For those in seclusion. Time is a gift. One our modern day often strips us of. The restlessness of this isolation will hopefully pass so you too can match your heartbeat to a slower, perhaps healthier, rhythm. Blessings to all.
