Haku has become a god (onkami). It is called Mashiro-sama among Japanese fans. I will explain the meaning of Japanese. Haku = white. Mashiro = white. It's complicated, but both have the same meaning in Japanese. Strictly speaking, Mashiro-sama is a legend that has been handed down to Kujuuri for a long time, not Haku himself. However, in Japan, it is well established that Mashiro-sama = Haku who became a god (onkami).

haku become GOD but unlike hakurou who divide his soul. power and personality to his human good side and a his dark that grant humanity wish and take their intelligence and form as payment. hakurou in s1 ep1 appeared after his long slumber in tuskuru near the mountains and save eruru's little sister, when she was badly hurt due to eruru's wish.. hakurou grants it but as a return (if i remember it correctly they threat him as a family member as payment). the dark side of hakurou a formless one who can shape-shift/change appearance is his dark emotion mix with the missing link/god of evolution.. unlike hakurou who grants wish his dark side wishes for all living things evolution as the missing link, he was awaken first and lead country in the shadow to filter out the strongest to be allowed to attain next evolution. so after the two of them were sealed, hakurou awakened again a few years later this cause eruru disappearance to take care of him and leave kuon which cause kuon exploring ruins as an excuse to find eruru. later on haku awaken in the current timeline, then acquired oshtur mask a incomplete prototype base on the original mask of iceman made by the emperor/haku's elder brother. even as a incomplete mask if used by humans they become unremovable like the original, the reason demi-human can remove it is due to them being artificially created base on the data gathered in the original mask. then haku become one of the two rightful possessor of the master key but the other one was not a human but a clone of a human basically the same with demi-human without mixing the mask data technically he is the same as honoka the clone of the emperor's wife the same as the chain sister they were artificially created enhanced human "not demi-human". the original mask cannot be remove but can be transfer to a pure human... hakurou pass down the mask to haku that's why he were resurrected and when hakurou lost the mask he return into a normal human and the sealed dark side part of him disappeared, he also lost his vitality, abilities etc. while haku become the new wish granting god and even the chain-sister were set free, they still decided to dedicate their entire life serving haku as their own free-will.. haku now wear the hakurou's mask and still wear oshtur outfit.. so when the girl who wants flowers wanted a to see flowers, haku grant the girl's wish but as a payment he gets the metal fan from kuon and disappear. ofcourse kuon is still a demi-human-god, because she inherit hakurou's DNA w/ the mask overwriting his body data as a transcendent being.. this mean the one who become a wish granting god can choose what's the equal payment for t he wish. the clue are #1 hakurou healing the near dead little sister of eruru in exchange for granting him a family, #2 hakurou resurrecting haku but granting him the power of god as payment. #3 haku granting a little girl wish to see flower and picking the iron fan as payment.. the villager even talk about lord mashiru who help and grant people wishes. which cause zero disaster. the fault is hakurou aka iceman/the professor who grant humanity wish but pick to take their intelligence and form as payment as for his revenge for the scientist that child his lover and child. there were survivor other than haku & mito, mito modified haku's body but need to go to deep sleep to adjust.. while mito modified his body during the disaster.. not all human immediately become curses/slime/tatari i think its due to hakurou emotional conflict of vengeance and hesitation which force him to wish for himself to remove his dark part of him creating another god who prioritize evolution above all as the natural nature of the mask.. so by dividing himself in theory slow down the process of humanity turning into tatari.. they explain it in both season that it take times for people to transform into curses and not all people turned they can survive like mito, haku and hakurou but they killed each other due to fear of people on their side suddenly turning into tatari and devouring them.. some people die not from humans but from the attack of tatari becoming their food. mito's wife and daughter turning into tatari but he manage to survive since he was in his own underground laboratory a different shelter from his brother and family. oh before hakurou wishes to remove his darkside he wish for his own destruction after he grant the wishes of humans he wants to die due to him taking their form and intelligence as payment but the laser beam outside of earth from mitsumi did no even scratch him. when hakurou's co-worker found the body :"skeleton" of the missing link in its dinosaur form proves that its not immortal it is killable or only has a really long lifespan which refer to iceman when the scientist try to find out the secret of his vitality which resulting in enhanced humans to creating demi-humans which later on acquired magic, brute strength etc, the co-worker of hakurou said that the dinosaur fossil is the missing link of evolution. it grant's evolution to all species on earth until the meteor wipe out all dinosaur's and might also killed it? i think LOL.. so when hakurou said to haku that if he wish to return the tatari into human it might become worse.. i think its BS.. it might be because the one granting the wish is hakurou himself who hated the former humans. haku clear out tatari in the ending.. most likely he just save them out of their misery but taking their longevity which killed them or turned them to ashes like mask users...look only haku and mito who modified their body base survive the new environment that is impossible for humans to live in.. so if they return as human they will die immediately due to shelters becoming ruins.. so haku save his kind but they were gone as good this time, only hakurou surive as the last human who adopted to the new environment due to his mask even after passing it to haku.. and haku becoming the new god while kuon is half-human-half-demi human-half-god LOL.

I dont think there is any payment involved, the payment only works when a god makes a pact like hakuowlo did with eruruu. However that isnt the case with Haku, he is doing things on his own free will without there being any kind of pact. The wish can also be granted when both parties are ok with it. Again like with Eruruu. What haku does is on his own free will without there being any kind of pact. While he goes around fixing the world and in turn granting people's wishes there is nothing stating that he has to take some kind of prize in return or there has to be a price in his case, as he dosent make pacts to begin with. Haku took the fan on his own free will because he wanted the fan and him doing everything else was without any price. Like for example fixing the tatari at the end and turning them into vegetation.

I think I know what's going on, it has to do with the Amaterasu Satellites, Haku must be traveling to each of the Stations that control the climate satellites, if we remember Haku was a scientist who was related to climate engineering before he became It will involve the New Human Project, so my suspicion is that he is using his new god powers like Hakuoro but to repair the weather using the satellites and of course he is using his power to free the humans turned into Tatari, thus giving them the rest so they don't continue to suffer in those ways... Haku is doing it, but now as Lord Mashiro.

@@the_brojose3785 for now Leaf and aquaplus doesn't plan to make a sequel and there isn't any news about a sequel the only new game after this one was a action figth game with dynasty warrior gameplay utawarerumono zan and zan 2 who follow the same story/scenario than the first version of utawarerumono. and the whole story is already completed everything about the old humans / the scientist and ice man/Hakuowlo .

But honestly i hope they're can finish the story while its still good and not turn it to some abomination. Like certain Nasu did to his one.

what i want to know is how are the twins able to stay with haku? they somehow have the power to be in the same realm as god (Haku), so are they gods too? Maybe it has something being the priestess? If so, i would imagine Ulthury / Camyu would be able to stay with hakurou then. But a priestess is a mortal, not a quasi god or whatever.
