You're commenting on a performance of Perry close to 30 years ago, right after resting for 9 years??? SP was phenomenal in his prime. However, all singers age including their vocal chords. There's a vid taken 5 years ago and his pristine voice is gone like Augeri. In time Pineda and Soto will follow suit. That's life!!! So, get real, SP's rocking voice is gone!

What a showman! I wish I knew then what I know now; I would’ve definitely tried to catch his concert. I have such empathy for him and his life’s journey and such a love of what he writes and the way he sings all that he sings! Still, in his 70s the way he sang Silver Bells gives me chills. For what his music has done for rescuing me and to me I am forever thankful! According to Wikipedia: 'After recording the song "Purple Rain", Prince phoned Cain and, worried it might be too similar to "Faithfully", asked him to listen to it. Cain reassured Prince by telling him that the songs only shared the same four chords.' I thought I'd heard a different story, that Prince admitted that in wanting "Purple Rain" to have an anthemic quality, he deliberately used "Faithfully" as a model. Afterward, he offered Cain co-writing credit but Cain refused, claiming the reward was inspiring such a beautiful song from Prince. Either way, there's no questioning the similarities.

This was recorded 1994, almost 30 years ago. I know SP tried to launch his solo career twice, but didn't rise to the level of a commercial success and has been virtually absent from concerts, why? On the other hand, Journey is still generating SOLD OUT CONCERTS without SP to date. Perry made Journey into All-American Band, but AP led the band to become multi-generational and global band. Proof that what has been selling is the Journey Band and their songs. I understand anyone can have favorite singers, but to say Journey is dead without SP, is still zombied out and needs to move on.
